🩷There is no easy way to say this so here goes, I have cancer. These words have been very hard for me to come by. I have been diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, a form of breast cancer. I will be having surgery on Monday, May 6th and ask for your prayers for my family and I. My prognosis is good, we found it early due to an annual mammogram. I have done a myriad of testing including genetic testing, a breast MRI, and multiple biopsies of different areas. After careful consideration, the experience of my care team and many conversations with survivors, I have chosen to undergo a bilateral mastectomy followed by reconstruction. A lot of people are asking me, what can I do for you? I appreciate it more than you know, everyone's lives are busy and for you to ask to take time out of your schedule to do something for me is very heartwarming. At this time I just don't even have the answers. What I can say right now is do something for yourself, book your mammogram. My doctor told me that I would not have been able to feel this and so while self-exams are great. Please, please go in and do a mammogram for yourself. I do have a Caring Bridge, although I'm just starting it so bare with me on that. I will try to keep it updated and Zoee will keep it updated when I don't feel like doing so.
