During Covid I had a lot of time to think about things that I liked to do, but was a little afraid of failing to actually try. Painting was one of them.
I had an art teacher that I overheard tell my dad to
”never put me in an art class becasue I was so bad”😭😭😭. So guess what? I never took another art class and NEVER even tried to paint again. I decided to give it a try. I promised myself that no matter how my first attempt came out that I would place it prominently on my refrigerator and be proud of it! I can assure you it wasn’t very pretty 😆 but I followed through and kept trying. I landed on watercolors and really loved it! I took a chance and asked if she might be interested in carrying a few of my paintings. To my surprise she said yes 🥰
I dropped a few off this Saturday and woke up Sunday to the message that one had sold immediately 😳😳😳.
I’m not sharing this story for the “attaboy” comments and likes. I’m sharing it for those of you, who like me had someone crush your spirit when you were younger. Don’t wait as long as I did to believe in yourself! If you love it do it and don’t be afraid!!! It truly is about the process

This review gave me all the feels. It is such an honor to be allowed into someone’s healing journey and then to have such kind words said about that service is the icing on the cake.

Slugging isn’t for everyone but if you want to try here’s some hints…
1. Double cleanse your face in the evening, use your toner, then moisturize. Your petroleum will go on top of your moisturizer. This is going to form a seal (or barrier) which helps the skin retain its moisture. Petroleum helps to prevent transepidermal water loss, which is aesthetician speak for the amount of water that evaporates through the skin. Applying it to slightly damp skin will help to lock that moisture in as well.
2. Only use a pea size amount. This is likely one of the most common mistakes. More is not always better, and in this case that stands true! You’ll want to apply a very thin layer!
3. Use care if your slugging while using a retinol. Remember the petroleum jelly is going to lock in the ingredients and retinol’s, along with alpha, hydroxy, acids or beta hydroxy acids can cause irritation. Some skin types can tolerate this, but many cannot.
4. It’s recommended that you slug your skin once or twice a week, depending on the condition of your skin. If you have extremely dry skin, you can slug two or three days in a row and give it a break for two or three days before repeating. However, no matter how dry your skin is daily slugging is not recommended for anyone.
5. You will want to avoid the eye area, especially if you are prone to milia (those tiny white bumps that look like whiteheads and often form around the eyes)
6. Be sure to remove the petroleum in the morning. You’ll want to use an oil based cleanser. Remember that oil and water don’t mix so that means splashing your face with water is not enough to remove your thin layer of petroleum. Oil attracts oil right? So it makes sense to use your oil cleanser first. If you’re worried that an oil based cleanser isn’t enough, go ahead and follow it up with your regular cleansers.
