Celebrating 17 Years • A Story of Dreams, Resilience, Gratitude, and a New Beginning

Yesterday, we turned 17 🎉 — and instead of rushing to post, I wanted to simply live it. 🤍

I spent the day looking back on this 17-year journey, reading your beautiful messages, and celebrating quietly with the guests who walked through our doors.

So many of you shared your memories with us — and I held onto every single one. 💌

Today, with a full heart, I finally feel ready to share what this milestone truly means to me — and the words from my grandmother I have carried all these years:
✨ "What you give to the world, it will give back to you." ✨

My name is Natalie, founder of Salon by Natalie and co-founder of Beauty Lounge in Westminster, Maryland.

At 21 years old, I left Vietnam for America with two empty hands but a heart full of dreams. 🌏 I spoke very little English. I had very little money. I was scared. But I carried my grandmother's words with me — and they became my compass. 🧭

Long before America, at just 19, I had already started my first business in Vietnam — Natalie Fashion. At 23, I took a leap of faith and opened my first salon in the United States. What began as a small dream has now become Salon by Natalie & Beauty Lounge — a place I have been proud to call home for the past 17 years. 🏡

Over those years, we have shared life together. We celebrated weddings 💍, birthdays 🎂, graduations 🎓, new careers, and growing families. We watched daughters become mothers. We watched clients become friends. We watched strangers become part of our story. For all of those memories, I am deeply grateful. 🤍

But building a business comes with deep growing pains. 💔💔💔

There were seasons when the people we believed in most, invested in most, trained, mentored, and loved like family betrayed our trust and left us heartbroken. Trust was broken. Loyalty was tested. Some of the deepest wounds we experienced did not come from competitors or hardship — they came from within.

There were moments when I questioned myself. Moments when I wondered if all the sacrifices had been worth it. Moments when the weight of disappointment felt heavier than any financial challenge we faced.

But those painful experiences did not break us. They humbled us. They strengthened us. 🌱 They taught us resilience, wisdom, and the importance of building a stronger foundation. Looking back now, I realize those chapters were not the end of our story — they were preparing us for a better one.

And there were moments when we fell short of the experience our guests deserved. To anyone who ever felt disappointed, overlooked, or less than fully cared for — I am truly sorry, from the bottom of my heart. 🙏 Those moments stayed with me, and they changed me. 🤍

Most importantly, they reminded me why I started this journey in the first place — not simply to help people look beautiful, but to help them feel beautiful. To feel confident. To feel cared for. To feel seen. To feel valued. ✨

After 17 years, I believe we are entering the most meaningful chapter of our story. 📖

A chapter inspired by where I came from. A chapter rooted in wellness, healing, and intentional self-care. A chapter that brings together the Vietnamese traditions I grew up with and the modern luxury our guests deserve. 🌿

Seventeen years ago, this dream began with a small space, a few chairs, a young Vietnamese woman with big hopes, and a community willing to give her a chance. I will never forget those early days — the nervous excitement, the fear of "Will anyone come?", and the deep gratitude every time the door opened and a new face walked in.
Since then, you have turned this little salon into something so much more.
