Our focus on kids of all ages includes a safari theme, plenty of distractions (including iPads, lollipops and animal crackers, and bubbles), perfectly suited chairs, an interactive playroom, and organic hair care products. The Blue Balloon is locally owned and operated and has very special meaning to the mom and two kiddos who own it. Dear Friends,
Yesterday, we turned the lights off at Blue Balloon for the last time. It was not a decision made lightly, but for many reasons, it was the best decision for me and my family.
As many of you know, I opened The Blue Balloon, a true labor of love, in memory of my husband. Everything, from the name to the colors used to the murals on the walls, was designed to honor him. It was a beautiful space that meant more to me than I could put into words.
When I first opened the doors to Wichita’s first children’s hair salon, I was a shell of a person, but The Blue Balloon gave me purpose and the outlet I so desperately needed while grieving. Over the last several years, I have taken a journey that I would not wish on anyone, but I have come to a place that I never thought would come. It isn’t to say that there aren’t still many hard days, and we will always grieve our loss, but I feel like I am living again for both myself and our two children. Blue Balloon will always hold a special place in my heart, but I now know that I can honor him so much more in living life...and it is time for me to release my balloon.
The blessings that have come from The Blue Balloon are countless. I am so thankful for each and every one of you and wish you all the very best.
