I come from a family of hardworking immigrants who gave everything they had so we could have more. I admire my parents, uncles & aunts and how selfless they are. They worked 2, sometimes 3 jobs, early mornings before the sun, late nights long after the world went quiet. I remember talking to my mom when she was recently in town visiting. One evening I was driving us to go visit family she mentions to me how beautiful the sunset was she said “Nunca tuve tiempo de ver el atardecer, siempre andaba corriendo para ir al trabajo.” She was always stressed, running around worrying about everything. In that moment, I realized the sunset was such a simple luxury that she somehow couldn’t afford. Back then, I didn’t fully understand the weight they carried. But as I grew older, their sacrifices became impossible to miss. Every long shift, every missed holiday, every tired smile at the dinner table it was all love. A quiet, relentless love that built the life I get to live today. I carry so much of their strength with me in everything I do. Because of them, I know what it means to show up, to keep going, and to never take a single blessing for granted.
