WPD Officer pulls driver from sinking car! 💙

On the morning of September 19, Officer Acevedo of the Wildwood Police Department responded to a report of a woman who had lost consciousness behind the wheel. Her car had rolled through an intersection, down an embankment, and into a pond. The driver was still inside as the car began to sink.

Before EMS arrived on scene, Officer Acevedo went into the water, broke a rear passenger window with her baton, and pulled the woman out before the car was submerged.

The driver was stable when she was taken to the hospital. Neither she nor Officer Acevedo reported any injuries.

We are proud to recognize Officer Acevedo for her quick thinking and grateful she was there when this driver needed help. Her timely response made all the difference.
