But for the moms, braiders, and girls healing through hair journeys too… this one’s for you

Sundays are my one day away from clients… but honestly, it becomes the day I pour back into my home and my girls. 💕

The people that really know me know that when it comes to my kids’ hair, healthy hair will always come before anything else. Always.

And with my oldest daughter… our hair journey was emotional. The ones close to us know exactly what I’m talking about, and maybe one day I’ll share the full story. But there was a point where she lost a significant amount of hair in one area. At first, I thought it was something I could fix myself at home. I kept thinking it was just a normal hair issue and that I could nurture it back.

But sometimes as moms, we have to realize certain things are beyond what we can do on our own, and we need medical help. By the time I realized that, it had progressed more than I expected.

But thank God, after finally getting the help we needed, I was able to slowly nurture her hair back healthy. And now… you can’t even tell what was lost. 🥹

So this silk press wasn’t really about making it “last.” This was my way of deeply cleansing, moisturizing, conditioning, adding protein back into their hair, and giving them a very minimal trim.

And listen… I already know somebody somewhere is probably going to have opinions about how I trim my girls’ hair 😂 but these are my babies. They are still kids, and I choose to trim their split ends little by little at my comfort level. I do what works best for us.

I usually only silk press their hair maybe twice a year for this exact reason.

Now my oldest daughter? Hers lasted about three weeks.

My baby girl? We barely made it 24 hours before the curls, sweat, and outside took over 😂 but honestly, that’s okay. It lasted long enough for me to do what I needed to do, and it gave them a chance to just be free and enjoy being little girls.

And after doing clients all week… then doing my girls every Sunday… this is exactly why a braider mom’s hair is NEVER done 😭 so please don’t come for me lol.

From 2022 to now… what a journey. 🔥💫 Watching this young king grow has been nothing short of special. From one of my first clients to a loyal one ever since, it’s been an honor keeping you fresh through every season.
