I will foil frost hair but I prefer using the old-fashioned rain bonnet style - it keeps your hair protected and allows perfect control (and timing! with foil, I have to work fast and some hair may end up too processed!). It is very sanitary as a new cap is used for each color and there is virtually no seepage of color through the holes - which is the reason I love using them - color control. It's use is excellent for short to medium length hair and you'll have more time between colors because the tight fit of cap means hair pulled through is closer to the scalp.
