Closures are hand‑tied, which creates “return hairs” — the short pieces you see throughout. When those hairs fold back through the lace, the cuticles face the opposite direction, which can cause matting.
That’s why at Tethered Hair Co. part of the cuticle is removed during production: smoother strands, less friction, better wear.
