Hair extensions are not all created equally, and since I’ve been to China and seen them being made in person, I can guarantee that.

How the hair is sourced, which strands are chosen vs rejected, how they are processed and for how long all play major roles in what you are getting for an end product. (Even if the starting quality is all the same!)

Each factory has a set protocol for the different processes, and making sure your hair is sourced from a place that values time and skill over mass production is SUPER important!

My advice is to make sure your hair stylists knows exactly where your hair is coming from and how your extensions are made. That’s why I went to China, so I can answer all of your questions!

Last week I took my first in-person class for mesh and meshless integration. If you’re a prospective or current hairloss client, you probably have already heard of these techniques as they are becoming more popular solutions for thinning hair and hair loss.

Mesh and meshless integration allows for wearing hair full time- different from a wig or topper. You can wear a mesh system even with severe hair loss! I knew that learning these techniques would be crucial to my business as I get more requests for semipermanent hair loss solutions.

One of the biggest mistakes I see with hair extensions (besides sewing issues), using too much solid blonde.

Unless you receive bleach on the scalp to get a 100% level 10 blonde, you will have variation in color, even if your ends *seem* super bright. Strands that aren’t lifted to the same levels from previous highlights, or natural color that has grow out all contribute to your final look.

People sometimes get scared when I pull out a darker weft to mix into their bright blondes, but 9/10 times they end up loving it becuase it looks SUPER natural!

The term “color matching” doesn’t really give the full story. Yes, part of choosing your hair extensions is matching your natural color, but your hair isn’t always one color.

I generally mix 2-3 colors, so that your highlights/ lowlights/ different tones are ALL matched, not just your roots or ends.

Exceptions to this rule are if you have highlighted all your natural color out and are pretty solid blonde, or if you have colored your hair one solid darker color. (Notice both exceptions to my rule involve processed hair and not natural color? 😉)
