I started walking in the woods with my dad before I can remember. He would always spot a “good stick” that he’d clean off and break to the right length for a walking stick. I was a kid, no stick was needed.

When I passed three score and ten in 2020 we were all experiencing solitude. I passed some of that time finding, shaping and finishing sticks and branches I found down almost everywhere.

I loved working with the various grains and using the knots and imperfections as part of sculpted design.

I’m better at woodworking than I am at photography so more pictures will be added as I get better at that. Please enjoy looking.

My favorite thing is to make canes and sticks customized for a particular owner. I’ve looked over the machine made sticks sold in hardware stores for two or three times the cost I charge. Meh. They lack character in my opinion.
