I’m so excited to officially share my newly updated website!
Huge thank you to Katherine Barnes for bringing this to life so thoughtfully. She truly understood how to create a space that finally feels like a reflection of the work that I do supporting those navigating life after surgery- especially individuals recovering from breast cancer and other complex procedures- in a way that’s gentle, intentional, and supportive of the physical and emotional aspects of recovery. She was also able to visually reflect the feeling of my treatment room- a place where you can finally exhale. Where you’re seen, supported, safe, and empowered in your healing.
I can’t wait to hear what you think of the new site! You’ll find more about my approach to Scar Therapy, post-op breast and chest care, and the evidence-informed work I’m so passionate about- because so many are told they’re healed while still living with pain, restriction, or disconnection in their bodies.
Head over to welchscartherapy.com!

I received this message the morning after this client's FIRST session and honestly- I was blown away. For nearly three years after her c-section, she had been dealing with intense pain anytime her bladder was full. After just one session, that pain had already resolved.
This work is gentle, painless, deeply relaxing- and it works.

Laparoscopic surgeries to the abdomen, pelvis or heart are often described as minimally invasive, as these procedures use a camera and long, narrow instruments which are inserted into several small incisions to perform operations. This approach is considered safer compared to open surgeries- with faster recovery times, less pain, less risk of infection and minimal surface scarring.
But what’s harder to see is what happens underneath.
The instruments used in these procedures can create significant disruption along their pathways to deeper tissues. As internal scar tissue forms along those deeper layers, the impacts can affect how the body moves, breathes and stabilizes. Over time, this may show up as stiffness, pulling sensations, restricted range of motion, digestive changes, pain and compensatory movement patterns that don’t seem connected to the surgery at all.
Gentle, painless manual therapy can help address these hidden impacts of the tissues beneath the surface, which can make a profound difference in how the body feels and moves long after surgery.
If your body feels “different” after a laparoscopic procedure, even months or years later, it’s not in your head. There is more that can be done.

Inclusive and affirming gentle manual therapy can be a supportive part of the healing journey after top surgery. Gentle, trauma-informed touch can help ease post-op tension, support circulation and lymphatic flow, improve scar healing and calm the nervous system during a vulnerable time.
Just as important, affirming care means being seen, respected and safe in your body. Healing happens best in spaces where your identity is honored and your boundaries are respected.

When the body stays in a protective state for too long, it can lead to chronic pain, stiffness and ongoing dysfunction. Scar tissue can impact nerves and surrounding tissue, movement becomes restricted, and pain can linger long after it’s expected to resolve.
Too often, people are told that nothing more can be done- that ongoing pain or limited mobility is something they’ll just have to live with. Being told that can be mentally and emotionally devastating, and it keeps the nervous system stuck in a state of threat and tension. Over time, this impacts not just the body, but confidence, mood and a sense of safety within your own body.
Your body can continue to heal.
Pain does not have to be permanent.
Gentle, painless and intentional manual therapy can help soften scar tissue, ease restrictions, restore movement and calm the nervous system. When the body feels supported and safe, fear eases and movement becomes more comfortable and confident again.
Reach out and let's get you moving forward in your recovery. It's never too late.

Scars can impact self-esteem, trigger trauma or painful memories, and limit movement long after surgery. Left unaddressed, they may contribute to ongoing pain, tightness, or long-term complications that affect daily life.
Scar Therapy supports true healing. It can restore physical function, reduce discomfort, and help the body integrate the scar rather than guard against it. Just as importantly, it supports confidence, mental wellbeing, and a sense of wholeness again.
Scars influence how we move, how we feel, and how we show up socially and professionally. They also remind clinicians and researchers that recovery doesn’t end when a wound closes, it continues through intentional care and innovation.
Every scar has a story.
Every story deserves expert care.
Scar Therapy isn’t cosmetic.
Scar Therapy is recovery.
