SMRT (Spontaneous Muscle Release Technique)

You may have seen me post about it in the past.
This is a new technique that I am sloooowly learning. It is much different than a regular massage, and maybe better described as body work.
SMRT is a very targeted approach (one specific muscle or bone), whereas massage is broad with some targeting and never focusing on bone. SMRT IS NOT chiropractic though, there is no thrusting. Just gentle pressure.
SMRT consists of positioning the body to target the area of concern and applying a gentle pressure for 20-45 seconds. So in comparison to the busyness of massage it seems as though I am not doing much. But it's effective!

Just last week, 2 clients had this to say:

"I'm impressed that I didn't feel any tenderness in the lower back/hip area that usually bothers me."

"You pressed that one spot on my heal and it released!" (In reference to her extremely tight and bothersome calf muscle) .

I have learned this technique for only part of the body to date. And it requires some studying and practice afterwards. But you will be seeing more of this from me in the future.
