Attention Full-Browed Humans: I *believe you* when you say that everyone always makes them too skinny.

My entire time in esthetics, this is one of the scenarios I try to avoid the hardest. I never want someone feeling that they don't look like themselves anymore after they place their trust in me. It's an awful feeling to not recognize your own features when it's not what you asked for.

This is part of why I've developed so many habits that make my brow shaping appointments longer than average. Part of why I started Prism Beauty was so I would never feel pressured to rush someone's appointment. That's how communication mistakes happen. My philosophy is that your face is too damn important to rush. (My brow shapings are usually about 25 minutes and the consensus seems to be that they're relaxing, btw!).

I start with what I call "tidying up" and then we'll chat and I'll show you in a hand mirror what your options are and am happy to give recommendations (if you want them).

I would never drastically change someone's brow shape without their permission, and even when we are on the same page, we'll go in stages and check in. It's your face, your opinion is the one that matters.

For example: The client in the last photo!

That was her first brow shaping ever. It expressed that it was important to her that it look like a really natural change and not like she got her brows done. I left the underside of the tails a bit fluffy/feathery rather than a crisp line, which has the added bonus of making grow-out less noticeable. I showed her this and explained my reasoning before the end of her appointment so we could tweak if need be.

She has absolutely gorgeous natural brows that could be the canvas for any number of shapes. Going with whatever shape the beauty industry deems most attractive (at the moment) doesn't make any sense to me. Eyebrows don't exist in a vacuum. Her face, personality, habits, and what she wants matters when it comes to shape. What trend can tell you that?

The Gentle Glow Peel is my go-to dehydrated-winter-skin refresher. It's one of my favorite peels for folks with dry flakies, rough patches, and dullness. After the dry air and blasting heaters lately? A lot of us are feeling and seeing the effects.

Dead skin doesn't reflect light. Buildup = dullness. Gently dissolving it away with a quick, comfortable peel allows your products and moisturizer to reach the skin it *can* help.

Pair it with some facial massage for some relaxation and a glow like Claire's!

Even if you haven't been genetically gifted with brows as exuberant and glossy as Claire's - quite often there will be a great natural brow shape hiding in plain sight if they're allowed to grow out.

Everyone has different tolerances for how much growing out they're willing to do before their fingers start itching for tweezers, I know! I'm that way too. But any little bit gives me more to work with, and I really love having a surplus of raw materials. 😁
