Tincture Report:

Lapsang Souchong.
1:1 in 95% ethanol.
Begun 26 November 2015.

At 11 weeks this tincture is as much like liquid smoke as I can imagine. The tea aroma is an under-note becoming more noticeable on dry down. Almost no 'boozy' quality at all.

Saffron.
1:1 in 95% ethanol.
Begun 22 November 2015.

11.5 weeks in this is *wonderful*. A rich saffron aroma with no booziness and a brilliant yellow color. Wonderfully persistent on the scent strip. Note: this was made with saffron threads more than 15 years old from the recesses of my spice cabinet. This is such wonderful stuff I think investment in fresh saffron will make an interesting experiment into the effect of aging on the source material.

Allspice, whole, coarsely ground.
1:1 in 95% ethanol.
Begun 23 November 2015.

Also at 11.5 weeks of maceration, this tincture's aroma doesn't really develop until after dry down on the scent strip. The warm, spice aroma is nicely persistent.

For your information and caution:
