The Conversation That Changed Everything
I used to think networking was for people who were naturally outgoing.
You know the type.
The people who walk into a room and somehow know everyone. The people who never seem nervous introducing themselves. The people who always have the right thing to say.
Meanwhile, I was the person standing near the wall, holding my business cards a little too tightly, wondering if I belonged in the room at all.
For years, I believed success came from working harder.
Get another degree. Earn another certification. Volunteer for another project.
Stay busy.
And while those things mattered, I eventually learned something that changed my life:
Opportunities don't always come from what you know. Sometimes they come from who knows you.
One conversation can lead to a job. One introduction can lead to a partnership. One connection can lead to a mentor. One relationship can change the direction of your future.
The challenge is that nobody really teaches us how to build those relationships.
Many of us were taught how to write a resume.
But not how to introduce ourselves.
We were taught how to apply for jobs.
But not how to build professional relationships before we need them.
We were taught how to work.
But not always how to connect.
That's why so many talented people sit on the sidelines of opportunities they deserve.
Not because they aren't qualified.
Not because they aren't capable.
But because they don't realize their voice belongs in the room too.
Today, when I walk into networking events, workshops, conferences, and community spaces, I still remember that version of myself.
The woman wondered if she belonged.
The woman hoped someone would notice her value.
The woman waiting for permission to speak.
What I discovered is that confidence doesn't come before connection.
Connection builds confidence.
Every conversation. Every introduction. Every follow-up message. Every moment of showing up.
Little by little, you realize you belong.
So if you're reading this and you've been hesitant to attend that event, introduce yourself, ask the question, send the email, or sit at the table where you feel out of place, this is your reminder:
You do not have to be the most experienced person in the room.
You do not have to be the most accomplished person in the room.
You simply have to be willing to show up.
Because somewhere in a room you haven't walked into yet, there is a person, opportunity, partnership, mentor, client, employer, or friend waiting to meet you.
And they cannot connect with the version of you that stayed home.
They can only connect with the version of you that had the courage to walk in.
What's one conversation you've had that changed your life?

Throughout my career, I’ve watched the "quiet" difference between those who stay stagnant and those who skyrocket. It wasn't just talent—it was the strategy of how they showed up.
For years, I saw networking performed as a surface-level chore. But when I began to look at it through the lens of Etiquette, Strategy, and Integrity, everything changed. It became the most instrumental tool for my success.
I’m opening up my Glimmer & Connect Workshop (3 & 6-week sessions) to help you bridge that gap. We aren’t just "meeting people"—we are mastering the before, during, and after of professional relationships.
Why this is different:
The Journal: I created the only networking journal that navigates the full journey.
The Skills: We dive deep into the essence of impact and intention.
The Growth: Tailored specifically for women ready to lead with confidence.
If you’ve ever felt "stuck" at a networking event or wondered how to follow up without feeling awkward, this is for you.

When you walk into a networking event thinking “I need to make friends,” you unconsciously raise the stakes. Friendship requires time, emotional alignment, trust, shared values… all things that cannot be built in a 5–10 minute conversation.
That mindset can make you overextend, overshare, or feel discouraged when a deep bond doesn’t immediately form.
But when you shift to “I’m here to make connections,” everything becomes more effective and natural.
Connections are about:
•exchanging value
•learning who someone is and what they do
•identifying alignment or opportunity
•opening the door for future interaction
That’s it.
This matters because strong networks are not built on instant friendship, they’re built on intentional, respectful, and strategic touchpoints over time.
