Imagine this: months from now, you’re looking back and realizing you finally did it. You embraced the conversations you’ve been avoiding, created a plan you’re proud of, and set your loved ones up for a future filled with clarity and care. All because you decided to attend the I Have A Dream, A Legacy Luncheon.

But here’s the thing – this opportunity won’t last forever. Seats are limited, and we’re filling up fast. If you’ve been waiting for a “perfect time,” this is it.

This is a limited-capacity event, and the location will be announced to registered guests only.

The alternative? Another year of "I’ll get to it someday," leaving your loved ones in the dark and your plans up in the air.

Take action now to:

Secure your spot at the luncheon.

Start 2025 with confidence and peace of mind.

Transform the way you think about your legacy – forever.

Your future self will thank you.

You are invited!

Be honest – have you tried thinking about legacy planning before, only to feel stuck or overwhelmed? Maybe you’ve:

Googled a few things and gotten lost in legal jargon.

Promised yourself you’d “get to it” someday.

Felt guilty for not having a plan but unsure where to start.

The problem isn’t you. The problem is the way legacy planning is often presented: cold, impersonal, and designed for "someone else."

At the I Have A Dream, A Legacy Luncheon, we’re doing things differently. We’re throwing out the fear, confusion, and boring legal talk to create an experience that’s engaging, empowering, and uniquely tailored for women of color. This isn’t about paperwork; it’s about your story, your values, and your love for those who matter most.

This is a limited-capacity event, and the location will be announced to registered guests only.

Imagine walking away with a clear plan, peace of mind, and even excitement for the future. It’s possible, and it starts here.

Reserve your spot today!

Let’s make this your moment.

With hope,
-Tanishia

You are invited!

Let’s talk about something we often avoid – planning for the future. For many of us, the idea of legacy planning feels overwhelming, uncomfortable, or even taboo. We worry that talking about it might "jinx" us. But here’s the truth: avoiding these conversations only leaves our loved ones to face difficult decisions without guidance.

That’s why I created the I Have A Dream, A Legacy Luncheon – a transformative event designed specifically for women of color ready to take charge of their legacy planning in a way that feels empowering, joyful, and even fun.

This isn’t just another seminar or workshop. It’s a brave, welcoming space where you can:

Overcome the fear and superstition around planning ahead.

Enjoy sisterhood and support from women just like you.

Learn actionable steps to ensure your loved ones are cared for.

This is a limited-capacity event, the location will be announced to registered guests only.

It’s time to replace fear with confidence. Join us and discover how legacy planning can be not just meaningful but downright inspiring.

Warmly,
Tanishia

LONG POST ALERT: On this day 8 years ago the Brown Sugar TEAM brought the Crown & Glory Hair Show to Woodbridge, VA.

The idea was to showcase the talent in our area. It was no competition just for the love of the art and a portion of the proceeds was donated to the Boys & Girls Club.

We planned and rehearsed for months! We collaborated as a team and the show was a success.

Each stylist chose their own theme, song, wardrobe and styles to feature.

The MC was amazing.
Good Music
There was choreography.
A Q & A about natural hair care
A panel discussion about natural hair in the work place
Live demos
Vendors
Good Food & Drinks
Cakes & Treats

Most importantly there was fellowship. Not only between the stylist, also the clients and family members that volunteered as models and support. The choreographers, DJ’s, camera crew, videographers, tech support, fashion design and makeup teams all worked together to make this event a success!

The shoutout list is looooong! 🤎🤎🤎🤎

So how come there was no footage….
Not long after the event, my daughter’s father AKA the person who had my heart passed away suddenly.

I never got really got to share the event because my heart was broken.

This was such a pivotal moment in my life.

My heart was full after creating something so amazing for the community.

Those emotions almost instantly turned to grief.

The service we received from the local funeral home reminded me of my purpose to serve those that are dealing with death.

It was then that I began studying grief counseling. Not only to help myself and my girls but anyone else needing help to cope.

This is one reason why I’m retiring. Tomorrow is my last day and I’m feeling nostalgic.

I tried to get back on the horse and produce another show. This time not only a Brown Sugar show. I invited every hair salon in the county.

A few showed interest but never locked in…

I’ve thought about hosting a watch party.
It was an historic moment and it deserves to be recognized.

Would you attend?

Thank You!!

I have been overwhelmed with emotion from the amount of love and support many of you have shown. I knew that a change in career would be a challenge. I knew that this change would affect many. I did not realize the magnitude of it all.

I knew I would feel it in my pockets. I did not expect the emotional toll. I learned in my Grief Counseling Training that there are many types of grief. Retirement is on the list. I do understand that we are all grieving and I do not take your protest lightly.

Thank you for the opportunity to style and fellowship with you! Thank you for your grace and patience with me.
My heart is aching. I embrace it as I begin my journey on a new path.

I'm not done styling YET!

I have officially set a retirement date of July 24, 2024. My last day styling at Brown Sugar.

No changes will be made to Mrs. Brenda's schedule.

Celene and Tnyce are also working in the salon offering hair care, hair extension and make up services. I work with them weekly, one on one. Teaching them my secret techniques. I also have my trusted list of referrals. I am dedicated to making this transition as smooth as possible for everyone.
