Mother Truffula All Natural Body Care Products

This is so cool! I had some extra sweet potato slips this spring so I put them in a little compost pile I started just to experiment. So I got a great bonus crop of cute sweet potatoes! I didn't know what to expect, but I'm super happy with these.

I wanted to share some of my goings-ons lately! As many of you probably know, I like to make as much homemade stuff as I can. This has SIGNIFICANTLY reduced my grocery shopping trips, my grocery bills, and the amount of waste that our family produces. The trade-off is that I spend A LOT of time in my kitchen! Fortunately I have the best job that allows me time to do all this...but it is possible to incorporate a lot of this stuff even if you work full-time! With the exception of the raw ingredients such as sugar and the oils I use, most everything that I use to make our food is either homegrown, grown/made locally here in York County, or grown in the U.S. It feels awesome to put this stuff into our bodies and know how wholesome it is.

What are your favorite things to make homemade? Maybe you can give me some ideas of stuff to add to my list!

Hello!! Here's my little harvest for today and a clue of what I've been up to over the past couple of months. 😄💚 So much work...but so much happiness in the harvest. I hope you've all been loving life and are very happy yourselves.

I've really been making a push this year to decrease as much waste as possible in my garden. These are broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, and cabbage leaves that I am...sauerkrauting? 🥦🥬 I've been eating these leaves with my salads for the past couple months, but now I'm turning to fermentation for the rest. 😁 Fermented foods for the win!

This stuff right here is the only reason I got any sleep last night. I've been cleaning out the lot behind our fence to plant a food forest, and guess what is back there! You guessed it- lots and lots of poison ivy. I was silly and didn't think to wash my skin with my jewelweed and plantain soap bar(I did use that a couple times throughout yesterday, though, and that was wonderful too)right away... and then I started to feel those little bumps that just creep up on you!
Fortunately, I have this itch relief balm handy(had to get up at 4 in the morning to get it- that part wasn't handy), and after applying it, I was finally able to sleep. (Note to self- don't wait so long next time.)

Today was the last day of school for our school district. For those of you that don't know, I work in an elementary school... and today was so, so sad... well, bittersweet... but a lot of sad. Not only will my youngest son no longer me in the school with me so I'll be missing him, but I will also miss the kids also moving up so, so, so, so much. I can't express how much I love my job and how much I love those kids.
Buuuut- I'm trying to focus on the silver lining and remember my gardens. They have been waiting patiently for me to tend to them properly, and I am very excited to be able to give them the care they deserve. Everything is looking beautiful so far!
It's an interesting thought- moving from focusing on the growth and nurture of one life form and jumping to focusing on the next. Kids and plants are the best things in life, and I am such a grateful human being to know that my life includes them both.

Tomorrow is opening day of .glenrock farmer's market! I'll be there along with 17ish other vendors from 10-2. I will only have a limited inventory so if you need a specific product, please let me know tonight so I can do my best to bring it along tomorrow! 😄

Happy Mother's Day!! This morning I've been enjoying my gardens, and I thought since it's been a while, I'd share some updates of what's going on around here. 😄 As you can see, I've been focusing much of my efforts on caring for my gardens. Since I don't have too much space, I'm trying a staggered method this year in parts of the garden. We'll see how it turns out! 🤞 I'm really pushing to growing and preserving the majority of our vegetables/berries this year. I know the last couple pictures don't look like much yet, but I'm setting up a food forest behind our fence- full of fruit trees and berry bushes. I'm so excited to see the transition over the coming months!

Hello, it's me! Have any of you been wondering what I've been up to? 😄😉 I'm still here- loving life, super busy, and, as always, trying to become more self-sufficient and plastic-free in life. I dug up my garden beds, made new ones, bought some BIG raised garden beds, been baking breads and making pasta, and I've just started making yogurt at home(this yogurt maker is so dang easy!! )!! And, of course, I'm still here making all the Mother Truffula goodness...but am still bad at devoting time to social media. I hope you're all super duper and are excited for the beautiful upcoming spring!

I've been online MIA again, but I'm still here in the real world. 😁 Today I have been bottling up some homemade infused apple cider vinegars, some tincture for hair health and hair growth, and I made some bath soaks!

I realized I am about out of the witch hazel infusion for the Herbal Face Toner...and I use this daily so I figured I better get a move on for a new batch! This infusion is made with, well- witch hazel- and plants picked directly from my garden. You can find parsley, tulsi basil and other mixed basils, rosemary, marshmallow leaves, and stinging nettle.
