This Hispanic Heritage Month, I want to recognize Afro-Puerto Rican hairstylist Ruth Laviera Sánchez, who spent more than four decades creating the iconic hairstyles of Celia Cruz!!!! Her artistry, dedication and legacy remind me why I’m so proud to be a Puerto Rican hairstylist and entrepreneur today.

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month starting September 15th- October 15th! 🇵🇷✨
It is a time to celebrate our culture, our history, our traditions, and the people who came before us and paved the way. ❤️
As a proud Latina and Puerto Rican entrepreneur, this month means a little extra to me. 🇵🇷 From my culture, my family, and my roots to the journey of building my own business, I’m incredibly proud of where I come from and how far I’ve come.
For 8+ years, I’ve had the privilege of doing what I love! Creating beauty, building relationships, and growing Rooted into a space where people can come in, relax, feel beautiful, and simply be themselves.
And one of my favorite things about what I do is that my chair has never been just for one type of person. ❤️
