Hello Fuller Cut Family,
We made it through winter, the sun’s back, and so are we!
Now we're more visible than ever. But so is everything that grew all winter quietly.
And I’m gonna say it with love… some of y’all got nose hairs out here enjoying spring a little too much 👀
You get a fresh cut, everything’s clean, the line-up is right, and then one little hair decides to introduce itself and steal the whole moment.
That’s exactly why we added nose and ear waxing. It’s quick, it’s clean, and it keeps the small details from taking attention away from a good haircut.
Next time you’re in the chair, just say, “Alex, handle that.”
I got you.
Men's Mental Health
Spring is a chance to start fresh, but we can carry winter’s weight into it.
A lot of times, our mental health ends up at the bottom of the list. Work needs us, family needs us, life keeps moving, and somewhere in there… we get pushed to the side.
Here's something I've found that helps me feel more grounded and calm—
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, set a timer and step away for five minutes right now. No phone, no noise, no problem-solving. Just sit, breathe, and check in with yourself. Most of us stay busy so we don’t have to think, then wonder why everything feels heavy out of nowhere.
A brief pause like that can calm your system, clear your head, and help you mindfully respond rather than react.
So, as you care for your haircut, take these five minutes for your mind—make it a habit this spring.
If you're feeling overwhelmed and need someone to talk to about your mental health, here's a resource to start with.
What You Didn't Know About Alex -
Written by Alex's daughter, Mariah
Here's a little something about my dad...
If you’ve ever known Alex, you already know he has a great sense of humor and a big personality. But did you know he has an even bigger mouth?
No, literally, the inside of his mouth is absolutely humungous. His mouth is so big that he still has his wisdom teeth! The dentist told him he’s the oldest patient they’ve seen with a full set of 32. And there's still room for more! His teeth are legendary.
If you're reading this, you already know that my dad's big mouth is how he connects, shows up, and takes care of people in the best way.
This spirit has truly been the heart of Fuller Cut for a long, long time.
Thank you Fuller Cut Fam
Thank you for trusting us with more than just your haircut. The time you spend in the chair, the conversations, the support—it all means a lot to us. We’re thankful to have you as part of the Fuller Cut family.

Your scalp is stressed.
Let’s fix it.
It’s dry out here in these streets, and your scalp is absolutely feeling it.
If your head’s been itchy, tight, or acting brand new lately, don’t panic. It’s just the season. Let’s fix it without turning your shower into a 24-step science experiment.
First, stop washing your head like it’s a dirty dish. You don’t need shampoo every day. 2–3 times a week with warm water (not lava hot) and a gentle shampoo. Hot water and harsh shampoo will dry your scalp out fast.
Second, moisturize! After you shower, use a scalp lotion or serum a couple of days a week.
Third, every other week, do a reset wash with a clarifying shampoo to clear buildup. Rinse it well, then resume your gentle shampoo.
Just make these few small changes… and there’s a real good chance your scalp will stop acting dramatic.
Quick reminder,
Take care of you.
Take a few deep breaths.
Eat something that actually fuels you.
Move your body for a few minutes.
Find three things you’re grateful for, even small ones count.
Truly… thank you for supporting The Fuller Cut Barbershop. It means more than you know.

💧 Keep That Crown Moisturized This Winter ❄️
Y’all know how it goes... the moment the heat kicks on, your skin’s dry, your lips are dry, and your hair’s like, “Hey man, I'm thirsty!”
Here’s the game plan to keep your hair moisturized:
Start by layering your moisture after wash day:
1. Start with a little water then a creamy water-soluble moisturizer.
2. Then, seal it all in with some oil. That’s your winter armor.
3. Deep condition once a week like your life depends on it (because your ends kinda do... if you have ends).
4. Last but NOT least, put something satin under that wool cap before you head out. Friction is not your friend.
Keep your scalp well-oiled, drink plenty of water, and ease up on the heat tools. Protective styles are your best friend when it’s cold out.
Your hair will thank you by staying soft, healthy, and shining.
Stay warm, stay smooth, and keep that crown hydrated.
New Long COVID Study Offers Hope — and a Way to Help from Home
Scientists at Scripps Research are launching the Long COVID Treatment Trial-Tirzepatide (LoCITT-T), the first large-scale study to test whether the medication tirzepatide (Zepbound) can reduce Long COVID symptoms by lowering inflammation and improving overall metabolic health.
This fully remote clinical trial allows up to 1,000 U.S. participants to take part entirely from home using the MyDataHelps™ app, a wearable activity tracker, and a smart scale to monitor health trends over time.
By joining, participants contribute to urgently needed research while receiving compensation and helping pave the way toward effective treatments for Long COVID.

Keep Your Heart Warm While the Weather Cools
October rolls in, and suddenly the couch and the bed are calling your name like an old friend in need. I get it. But consider this your friendly nudge from your barber: move a little, live a lot. Even 10–15 minutes in that crispy fall air can flip your mood and do your heart a favor.
Why it matters:
A short walk can still do big work! Helping with blood pressure, cholesterol, and circulation; no marathon running required.
- Take one after a meal (even 2–10 minutes) and you’ll smooth out those blood sugar spikes, which is a win for your heart, too.
Stack that habit daily and you’re talking more good years; just 15 minutes is linked to longer life. That’s just one good phone call, one podcast clip, or one lap around the block.
How to start:
After dinner, take a 10–15 minute loop at a “can-talk, slightly breathy” pace.
Bonus points if it’s within 30 minutes of eating. If 15 feels like a lot, break it up into 3×5 minutes: morning, after lunch, after dinner. It still counts and is still a win.
One Moment You're Fine and Then...
One moment you’re fine, and the next you’ve got COVID, the flu, or what you think is a cold, and then… You never fully recover, and it becomes debilitating. This happened to my wife, and that’s why this matters.
If you or someone you love is living with Long COVID, ME/CFS, POTS, or other infection-associated chronic conditions, please consider joining this powerful community event:
Your voice helps drive real change in how these conditions are understood and treated.

We'll be there supporting Armani Guerra and the MBA team, who organized this. We'd love to see you if you can make it in person; if not, join virtually and add your voice.
I better see you there!

Shifting gears real quick...
At Fuller Cut, we’ve always been about more than the chair. This shop has been part of the neighborhood for 30 years, and the truth is: we wouldn’t be here without the other businesses and people who make this community what it is.
So here’s the question we’ve been asking ourselves: how can we better support other local businesses?
We’ve got a few ideas cooking, but before we roll anything out we’d love to hear from you. What local spots do you think need more love? Who should we be lifting up, partnering with, or finding ways to connect with?
Drop your suggestions at [email protected] with your thoughts!
This is just the start. We’ve got some exciting plans coming that’ll open up new ways for us to keep the community strong.
With Gratitude,
Alex Fuller

What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?
When most people in the U.S. think of July, they picture fireworks, barbecues, and all things red, white, and blue. But for many Black Americans, this month also brings deeper reflections on freedom. One big reason for that is a powerful speech by Frederick Douglass.
In 1852, Douglass, who was a formerly enslaved man and one of the most important abolitionists in American history, was invited to speak at an Independence Day event hosted by the Ladies’ Anti-Slavery Society in Rochester, New York.
Instead of joining the celebration, he took the opportunity to call out the huge gap between the promise of freedom and the reality of slavery. His speech was called "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?"
He gave it on July 5 at Corinthian Hall, speaking to an audience of mostly white abolitionists who needed to hear some hard truths. For enslaved Black people, Douglass said, the Fourth of July wasn’t a day of freedom at all. It was a painful reminder of the rights and humanity they were denied.
Douglass wasn’t trying to tear the country down. He was challenging it to actually live up to its own ideals.
Here’s a powerful line from his speech:
"What, to the American slave, is your 4th of July? I answer: a day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim."
His words still hit hard today and remind us that freedom isn’t real unless it includes everyone.
