It’s officially AUGUST and I couldn’t be more excited. July is such a heavy month for me so waking up to a new month is refreshing!! After 4 months of having no car since mine was totaled in March I FINALLY bought a new ride yesterday! I’m so thankful for my family/friends and clients who helped me get to and from work during this time.

I love being super independent, but what I went through taught me you don’t have to do it all alone. It’s okay to lean on the people around you without feeling like a burden to them 🙏🏾❤️

What I thought was meant to destroy me really helped strengthen me in ways I didn’t realize I needed to be strengthened. My patience, my gratitude, my anger and my perspective. Just when you feel like you’re being over-looked God always shows up in ways you couldn’t imagine and it’s ALWAYS better than what you had planned.

It’s always funny to me when I get a new client who wants braids and I ask what style do they want… The response is always I don’t care just not straight back! I will be the first to say that would never be my choice for anyone unless requested 😅 Creativity flows over here and free handing styles is my signature.

One of my pet peeves is people using the term “nappy” to describe black hair especially when you’re talking to a child. You may not know how to care for their hair texture, but please use a better term. Textured hair, natural hair, super curly etc…

I will never forget a time I was doing a little girls hair and she asked me “Tyler is my hair nappy” in a sad voice. I told her not at all it’s just very thick and beautiful. Those words stick with children and give them a huge complex about themselves that they don’t need to have. Let’s stop that and do better for them.

I don’t care what society says you could never convince me that natural hair is deemed “unacceptable” because it’s not bone straight. I stand 10 toes down when it comes to natural hair in any space. I always have and always will!
