Salty Hair Sandy Feet
Salty Hair and Sandy Feet is a place where women across the globe can share their experiences. Time to bring together a more united and stronger Virgin Islands.
I won't be a part of the problem, but I want to be a part of the solution.

Itโs Monday again !
Did you know that the ocean covers roughly 71% of our planet's surface, some 360 million square kilometers, an area in excess of the size of 36 U.S.A.'s. ๐คฏ
In such a large body of water, sometimes we need a reminder of what we maybe experiencing isnโt as big as we make it out to be. That the feeling is just temporary. At the end of the pain, our feeling of anxiety, heartbreak or disappointment is only for a moment.
The ocean reminds us that issue we maybe experiencing is smaller than we make it out to be. Take a moment today to just take a deep breath and take it one day at a time. It is a good week to have a good week BABES!

Have you ever felt uncomfortable when you are about to do something that will benefit your growth? โฃ
โฃ
That feeling is a step towards positive change and living your purpose. Often, we become too complacent and comfortable within our regular day-to-day routine that we do not take the steps towards living a more fulfilled and happier way of life. We get stuck in that comfort zone. โฃ
โฃ
We encourage you, whether it is in a relationship you are not happy with or towards your personal growth, get uncomfortable. Instead of becoming trapped in a routine, try something a bit different and reap the results.โฃ

It is that time again Monday is here! โฃ
โฃ
Today we want to discuss โself-careโ and what it looks like for you. Are you taking the time for yourself? โฃ
โฃ
You take the time for work, to get the kids ready for summer camp, prepare their lunches, give hubby the attention he needs, you take a moment to give a friend advice, get home and have dinner on the table, put little people to bed, and clean up their mess. โฃ
โฃ
So, do you have time for yourself? We challenge you to take some time whether it is 15 โ 30 minutes for yourself. Take a longer shower, a longer route home, meditate during your lunch breaks, wake up a little earlier and exercise, whip out that face mask you have always said you would try. Whatever you decide, it is important to practice self-care in your everyday life because your best mental health depends on it. Have a great week and we hope that you incorporate some form of self-care in your routine. โฃ

Itโs Monday and we hope you enjoyed your . โฃ
โฃ
Today letโs focus on healing. As defined in the Webster dictionary, healing is the process of making or becoming sound or healthy again. โฃ
โฃ
Let us meditate and focus on the path of healing which can lead to forgiveness. Remember, your feelings are relevant. It is okay to feel hurt, and okay to feel pain. It is the process of healing that will make you stronger. We hope that your week is filled with triumphs, but if all fails we have the perfect cure for you, ๐ง๐๐๐ ๐๐ง ๐๐๐ ๐ง๐ข ๐ง๐๐ ๐ฆ๐๐! ๐โฃ

HAPPY EMANCIPATION to the U.S. Virgin Islands (St. Croix, St. Thomas, and St. John) from ! โฃ
โฃ
On this emancipation holiday, we want our followers to reflect on the importance of our rich history and how it has come to impact our lives today. Imagine if the population of St. Croix today was at 30,000 people and 26,000 were enslaved Africans. Can you believe that this was the situation when the trans-Atlantic Slave Trade began in 16th century? Thatโs 87% of the population! โฃ
โฃ
During what was known as the Golden Era between 1750 - 1810 the Virgin Islands, specifically St. Croix was the most wealthy location in the entire Caribbean. Unlike the sister islands of St. Thomas and St. John that were created out of volcanic rock, St. Croix was rich with soil and perfect for planting sugar cane. โฃ
โฃ
However, on July 3, 1848 major changes occurred. The enslaved Africans on St. Croix revolted and won their freedom. John Gottlieb also known as General Buddhoe was just one of the key players who facilitated the revolt. Today, Buddhoeโs statue of him blowing his conch shell stands in Frederiksted better known as Freedom City as an iconic symbol of what transpired on that very day. โฃ
โฃ
Throughout the Virgin Islands, our ancestors were r***d, killed, and forced to succumb to harsh labor, but their memory remains. Our ancestors are still deep-rooted in our historical buildings that the slaves built so many years ago, in our soil, in our food, in our heritage, and within us.ย It is our responsibility to carry on with the Virgin Islands legacy through the education of our children.ย โฃ
โฃ
Today, we celebrate all those who fought for our freedom and we remember our ancestors and their sacrifice.โฃ

You may have heard by now that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
Many of us can however attribute time as the numberย one factor for skipping this essential meal.
Have no fear , we got you! Hereโs a quick 5 minute egg and avocado recipe that will power up your day!
Thereโs something about being the first to greet the sunrise at the easternmost point of the continental United States.
"As the sun hits our skin and we inhale the fresh sea breeze, we embrace and welcome a brand new day. We are alive, let us rejoice and be thankful!โ -Salty Hair Sandy Feet

Looking for a taste of St. Croix but also have a sweet tooth? Well... we have the perfect spot for you for our Destination Friday! Sugar Rush Gourmet Confectionaries located right on the Queen Mary Highway, close to the Barren Spot Village Mall is described by its owners Melanie and Phil Titre as an โIntercontinental restaurant on wheels who offers awesome desserts and great drinks.โ
The Titreโs have been at their restaurant location for the past 4 months and Phil has been in the food business as an Executive Chef for the past 27 years. Melanie handles the specialty drinks and desserts, while Phil handles the food. โThe inspiration was that we wanted to collaborate with each other on our strong points.โย
After relocating and working in the mainland the Titreโs then returned to St. Croix to open their business.ย Melanie started serving her sweet treats and specialty drinks at community events such as the St. Croix Festival Village, Agriculture Food Fair, and St. Patrickโs Day just to name a few.ย
When visiting some of their specialties that are a must try are the mouthwatering amaretto ribs, sweet and spicy deep-fried snapper, Hennessy glaze salmon along with their best seller Hennessy wings.ย
Some of their signature eye-catching drinks include adult and childrenโs slushies. You should also try their mango and dirty lemonade.ย
Sugar Rush Gourmet Confectionaries also caters private events and creates delightful treat tables. If you are interested in ordering food and satisfying that sweet tooth you can give them a call at 340-713-7874 or check them out on their page at https://www.facebook.com/sugar.rush.vi
