✈️ ONE WOMAN. ONE SMALL PLANE. BAD WEATHER. ONE BIG PURPOSE. 🌿❤️

Being a woman in local industry means sometimes going where the road ends… and sometimes going where there isn't even a road! 😂

Early last month, I travelled to Maewo for an Agriculture Expo. I flew in a tiny 7-seater plane for about 1½ hours, crossing over several beautiful islands before finally arriving in Maewo. 🌴🇻🇺

The journey wasn't easy. The weather was not on our side, and flying through changing weather conditions in such a small plane definitely made the trip an experience I will never forget. 🌧️✈️

But once we arrived, it was all worth it.

Maewo is incredibly beautiful and rich in taro, coconut crabs, prawns, fish and so much more — but the people are what truly make the island special. ❤️

At the Agriculture Expo, the community proudly showcased their agricultural products, including an amazing tower of taro. Seeing it with my own eyes was something I will never forget.

But I wasn't there only for the Expo.

I travelled to Maewo to meet farmers, build relationships and create opportunities to purchase Tamanu nuts, Nangai nuts and Vanilla Beans directly from village communities.

Because for Green Forest Oils, it's not just about making oil.

It's about creating a connection:

I spent two nights in a very simple place called Tanmaeto, and during my stay I learned a little about its history and the families who grew up there.

It reminded me of something very important:

We all start somewhere.

You don't need to start big to dream big. 🌿

Then came the journey home… and that's when things REALLY got interesting! 😂

The airport was about an hour from the village, and I was told there was only one flight a week.

When we arrived at the airstrip, there were cows standing on the runway! 🐄😂

So there we were, waiting for our little plane while also trying to become professional cow chasers!

We had to get the cows off the airstrip because otherwise the plane couldn't land — and missing that flight could have meant waiting another seven days!

Finally, we saw our little plane coming.

But just when I thought the adventure was over…

ONE OF THE WHEELS BURST! 😳✈️

After everything — the bad weather, the long journey, the remote location and the cows — I thought:

"Well… I guess I'm staying in Maewo!" 😂

Thankfully, our pilot was experienced and made the right decision to get us safely back to Port Vila.

We all had to put our faith in our pilot, our little plane and hope that we would land safely.

And thankfully… we did! 🙏❤️

It took me a few days to recover from the adventure, but honestly, it was worth every moment.

This is what being a woman in local industry can look like.

It's not always offices, meetings and nice clothes.

Sometimes it's remote villages, farmers, bad weather, tiny planes, cows on airstrips, unexpected problems and a whole lot of faith and determination. ❤️

And I wouldn't change it.

Because every journey brings me closer to the people and communities behind the natural products we are so proud to produce.
