Lydia Benn Nails

One of the biggest changes in my work over the years has been my understanding of nail architecture.

Before, I was creating strength primarily from above by building a traditional positive apex. While the nails were durable, the added height could sometimes leave the side profile of the nails looking heavier than necessary.

Now I use a negative apex approach. Rather than relying on bulk on top of the nail, strength is created through the lower arch and supporting structure underneath. This allows me to create nails that appear much thinner and more refined, without sacrificing any durability! 😁

The term nail architecture is about so much more than simply adding product. It’s about understanding where strength is needed, how force travels through the nail, and how to achieve maximum durability with the least amount of product, it’s so fun to do!! 🤣

Thin doesn’t mean weak. When structure is placed correctly, thin can be incredibly strong 💖💖💖

Filing into the growth points is so easily done in seconds. When we over narrow the nail plate we are physically removing strength which leads to breaks and weak sides.
