Aasvoëlbad, a 200 Ha nature reserve is nestled in the core of the Magaliesberg Biosohere. Fees:
R120 pp
R80 for under 12 and over 60 years.
It boasts the renowned "Aasvoëlbad hiking trail", named after the mountain pool, where the vultures often bath. Hiking fees:
R100 per adult
R60 for a pensioner
R60 for children under 12

This fire affected almost every trail owner in our area.
The best contribution any hiker can make towards helping trail owners survive this tragedy is to keep on visiting our trails, especially now.
This brings in the money that feeds the game and helps paying the workers.
Fires are a part of the cycles in nature. It maintains the fine balance/equilibrium in the flora, like grass, trees, veld flowers, etc.
In hiking after such fires, one experiences the resilience of the flora, coming back to life. (There are many species that only flower or germinate after a fire).

Aasvoëlbad experienced a mountain fire over the weekend that destroyed 90% of the vegetation.
