Meet Precious

Precious joined the Urban Escape family in September 2019, starting with us in Bryanston before spending a few years at our Morningside branch. And when Morningside closed, we were absolutely delighted to welcome her back home to Bryanston. 🤍

Precious is exactly what her name suggests - an absolute gem. A beautiful soul with the kindest, gentlest nature, a huge smile and a warmth that makes her such a pleasure to have around.

What does she love most about what she does?

“Seeing a client walk in stressed and walk out feeling lighter. That moment is everything.”

Her favourite treatment is a pedicure, especially the foot massage. She loves knowing that she can help someone release the tension and tiredness that comes from being on their feet and “carrying their weight” all day. 🦶

But don’t let that gentle nature fool you when it comes to her work! Precious is a perfectionist. Her attention to detail is exceptional and she does the most beautiful Russian manicures.

If she could give her younger self some advice, she wishes she had studied harder and pursued her dream of having her own company and creating jobs for others. Today, that dream has evolved into something equally special - one day, she would love to open a charity.

“I love helping people. I believe in giving.”

And that really does sum Precious up.

Fun fact: When she isn’t making our clients feel fabulous, you’ll find her in the kitchen. Precious is obsessed with cooking and baking on her days off. 👩🏾‍🍳🧁

Seven years of Precious, and we feel very lucky to have her back where her Urban Escape journey began. Beautiful work, a beautiful smile and, most importantly, a beautiful heart. 🤍

Urban Escape Bryanston is looking for an experienced, passionate Senior Skin Therapist to join our team.

We’re looking for someone who genuinely loves skin — someone who understands that great results come from knowledge, consistency, the right treatment plan and exceptional client care.

You’ll need:
• A recognised professional skin/beauty therapy qualification (ITEC, CIDESCO, SAAHSP or equivalent)
• Minimum 4 years’ experience
• Strong experience in microneedling and chemical peels
• Experience with advanced treatments including dermaplaning, IPL, LED and advanced facial therapies
• Excellent knowledge of skin analysis, treatment planning and home-care recommendations
• Confidence in recommending and retailing professional skincare
• A willingness to continually learn, develop and stay current in the world of skin

Experience with Dermalogica, Lamelle and DermaFix is a bonus, but training will be provided.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is warm, professional, caring, confident and team-oriented — and who is genuinely invested in their clients’ skin health and results.

Meet Melisa

For around 13 years, Mel has been quietly working her magic at Urban Escape — and when it comes to skin, she really knows her stuff.

Super experienced, incredibly knowledgeable and thorough to the last detail, Mel is passionate about all things skin. From relaxing facials to dynamic microneedling treatments, what she really loves is working together with her clients to make positive changes to their skin — and seeing those changes happen is incredibly satisfying. The fact that her clients get to switch off, relax and enjoy a little time out while she works her magic? That’s the bonus.

What has kept her at Urban Escape for all these years?

“The vibe and the team. We laugh a lot and treat each other with kindness and respect. I think that’s quite unusual, especially considering we’re a big group of very different women who probably spend more waking hours together than we do with our families!” 😂

And that pretty much sums up our Urban family.

What would Mel tell her younger self?
“Call your mother… OFTEN… and make sure to thank her for everything she’s done for you.” ❤️

Fun facts about Mel:
She seriously dislikes making phone calls.
She does zero social media — so the irony of her starring in an Instagram post is not lost on us. 😂

And she LOVES to travel.

In fact, with Mel, we’re never entirely sure whether she’s in her treatment room, skiing down a mountain or sipping something fabulous on a cruise ship somewhere. 🛳️⛷️😂

But when she is here , Mel quietly gets on with what she does best. No fuss, no fanfare — just dependable, steadfast, brilliant work.

After 13 years, she has become one of those incredibly valuable members of the Urban Escape family that we know we can lean on.

Our quietly fabulous, frequently travelling, social-media-avoiding skin guru. 🤍

We wouldn’t have her any other way.

Meet Ludo

Quietly dependable, endlessly pleasant and one of those people who simply gets on with things without ever making a fuss - Ludo has become such a lovely, steady part of our Urban Escape family. ❤️

She’s been with us for two years, and what she loves most about her work is making her clients feel beautiful and confident through their nails. But it’s not only about the clients, Ludo also treasures the sisterhood she’s found amongst her Urban Escape colleagues.

Ask her to choose between manis and pedis and she can’t. 💅 For Ludo, the best part of any treatment is simply seeing a client leave happy with her nails.

When we asked what she would tell her younger self, her answer was particularly beautiful:

Cherish the people you love. Make memories together whenever you can and never take those moments for granted. One day, you may wish you’d had more time. ❤️

And that probably tells you quite a lot about Ludo. She admits she becomes emotionally attached to people very quickly. She has a huge heart, cares deeply and, when she sees someone struggling or in pain, her instinct is to help - even if she doesn’t know them personally.

And a little Urban Escape fun fact you may not know… Ludo and Kim are sisters! 🥰 Clearly, being fabulous nail technicians runs in the family.

Meet Beke

Three years at Urban Escape and already with a fiercely loyal client following - Beke is as gorgeous as she is talented. And if you’ve ever had one of her immaculate Russian manicures, you’ll understand exactly why her clients keep coming back. 💅

When we asked Beke to choose her favourite treatment, she simply couldn’t. Her reasoning? “I’m passionate about my work, so I love every treatment I do… and I know I’m good at everything.” 🤭😂

We LOVE the confidence — and, to be fair, she’s not wrong.

What Beke loves most about Urban Escape is the environment and the genuine relationships she gets to build with her clients. Behind that pretty face and slightly gangster edge 😎 is someone who takes enormous pride in her work and genuinely cares about the people sitting opposite her.

What would she tell her younger self?
Live a little. And don’t be so hard on yourself. ❤️

And when she’s not creating perfect nails? You’ll find Beke outdoors with her friends, looking for her next adventure.

Meet Kim

For the past 10 years, Kim has been part of the Urban Escape family, a decade she describes as incredibly rewarding. And over those years, she has built the most wonderful and loyal following of clients who return to her again and again. 🤍

What Kim loves most about Urban Escape is the people. Meeting different clients every day, building relationships and enjoying all the conversations that happen along the way is one of her favourite parts of the job. For Kim, it’s about so much more than simply doing a treatment — it’s about connection.

Her favourite treatment? Manicures, without a doubt. 💅 She loves the transformation and that final moment when her client looks at her hands and feels just that little bit more beautiful and confident.

The advice she would give her younger self is simple but powerful:

Believe in yourself. Work hard. And be patient.

And when Kim isn’t creating beautiful nails? You’ll quite possibly find her in the kitchen. She loves experimenting with new recipes and making new dishes for her family.

Professional, smart, stylish and an absolute expert at what she does, Kim is a real lady in every sense of the word — and after 10 years, we feel incredibly lucky to have her as part of Urban Escape.

Meet Mosa 🤍

Some people are simply part of the heartbeat of a place — and Mosa is most definitely part of ours.

Mosa has been with Urban Escape since February 2010, taking care of our space, our team and our clients with her own special brand of warmth and energy. Our hospitality and housekeeping superstar, she’s one of those people who quietly keeps everything running beautifully behind the scenes — usually with a laugh and a little mischief thrown in. 🤍

What does she love most about Urban Escape? The people and the feeling of being here. She describes it as friendly, comforting and a little like home — even, she says, “like therapy.”

And Mosa’s advice to her younger self feels particularly special:

Never feel as though life has left you behind. You can change your path at any age. Don’t be so hard on yourself — and never stop learning. Education is the key to everything.

And Mosa is living those words.

She recently completed a nail course and, with lots of encouragement and hands-on training from the Urban Escape team, is slowly making the move from behind the scenes to the nail desk. 💅🏽 Watch this space… because before long you may be booking your appointment with Mosa, Nail Technician — and we couldn’t be prouder of her.

As for a fun fact? Mosa insists she’s “boring.”

We strongly disagree. 😂

She’s a funny, good-natured little live wire with a real zest for life. Sundays might involve drinks and a catch-up with friends — sometimes the kids are invited, sometimes they most definitely are not! 😂 She’s also quite the well-travelled local, having explored plenty of South Africa, with Cape Town firmly next on her bucket list.

Mosa’s story is such a beautiful reminder that there is no timeline for becoming more, learning something new or choosing a different path.

You are never too late. You are never left behind. You can always begin again. 🤍
