Successful skincare is as much about understanding the lifestyle, lifestage and mindset of our patients as it is about the ingredients of the products we'll use.

Confidence in your skin is always the goal.

Post-acne scars can hold onto a time of low confidence. Luckily, our skin can remodel with the right approach.

Microneedling, sometimes combined with subcision, helps break down scar tissue and release the connective tissue pulling the skin down.

How to identify the types of scars:
Box scars: defined edges
Ice pick scars: deep, narrow pits
Rolling scars: wave-like depressions

Microneedling is one of my go-to treatments for lines, wrinkles, first signs of ageing, and scarring - and when done consistently and correctly, the results really do
speak for themselves.
That said, it’s important to go in with the right expectations. When it comes to Microneedling for the treatment of pigmentation and certain types of scarring, there may be limitations to what microneedling can address on its own. Being upfront about that from the very first consultation and making sure that my patients have realistic expectations going into their microneedling journey is something I feel strongly about.

Thinking about microneedling but not sure if it’s right for you?

Microneedling is one of my favourite treatments because it delivers REAL results. It works by using fine needles to stimulate your skin’s natural collagen production, helping to improve the appearance of scars, fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of ageing over time.

One of the things I love most about it? It’s safe for all skin tones. Unlike some light and laser-based treatments, microneedling doesn’t carry the same risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation (PIH), making it a great option for a wide range of skin types and tones.

That said, it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. Results do vary, particularly when it comes to pigmentation and deeper scarring, so having the right expectations from the start is really important.

That’s exactly why I always begin with a thorough consultation so that I can recommend a treatment plan to suit your specific skincare needs.

The Answer: Threading.
Threading originated in South Asia and the Middle East and has been practised for centuries as part of beauty and grooming rituals. In many cultures, threading wasn’t just cosmetic, it symbolised a coming of age for young women.

Why I believe it’s the best method to remove unwanted facial hair:
1. No heat trauma to the skin (as seen in waxing)
2. No removal of skin (as seen in waxing, shaving, and dermaplaning)
3. No pulling or tugging of the skin (as seen in waxing)
4. Hair is removed from the root, not cut at the surface (as with shaving or dermaplaning)
5. Less trauma = significantly reduced risk of PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation), making it safe for all skin types.
In summary - ditch waxing and start threading.

5 reasons WHY microneedling might NOT be for you…
1. You live outdoors + skip sunscreen
2. Not using a potant Vitamin C, ideal 15% or more L-ascorbic acid
3. One treatment, won’t shift the needle.
4. You think one course will “fix” aging forever.
5. Find someone who has your best interested at heart during this skin journey.

Struggling with active breakouts in your 40s can be a real mood dampener.

This patient had seen other skin therapists but never achieved the results she was looking for.

Last month, she came in for a consultation where we discussed our treatment plan. We started with a Lamelle salicylic chemical peel. We only managed to do extraction on the left side of the face and scheduled a follow up for the following week.
She went home with two products: Lamelle Clarity Cleanser and Clarity Clear.

Looking at the images:
Before – baseline
After – one week later

The right side shows a noticeable reduction in inflammation of pimples.
The left side of the face shows a dramatic improvement due to extractions and the updated homecare routine.
Overall, there is a visible reduction in sebum/oil production, inflammation and an improved skin tone.
Don’t let your skin get you down. Making a simple change to your homecare and a plan might be all you and your skin needs.
