Fractional CO2 Laser for Hypertrophic Scarring

Fractional CO2 laser is an advanced treatment for hypertrophic scarring, which is characterized by thick, raised, and sometimes itchy scars that result from excessive collagen production during wound healing. The laser creates microscopic columns of thermal damage in the scar tissue, stimulating a natural healing response. This process triggers collagen remodeling and encourages the formation of smoother, softer, and more even-textured skin.

Typically performed in a series of sessions, fractional CO2 laser treatment can significantly reduce scar thickness, improve texture, and minimize redness over time. It is especially effective for treating hypertrophic scars from surgical procedures, burns, or injuries. While downtime may vary depending on the treatment's intensity, patients can expect some redness, swelling, and minor crusting, which usually resolve within a week.
