While this time of year is joyful and bright for many, it can often be a season of sorrow for others. Be kind, be generous, offer help when you can and if nothing else, just don’t give people a hard time.

Her laugh, her smell, her advice, they replay in my mind like echoes of a world that doesn't exist anymore.I miss her every single day, and it still doesn't feel real.

Groote Schuur Hospital is widely regarded as a premier hospital in South Africa, known for world-class healthcare, teaching, and research, particularly after performing the world's first human-to-human heart transplant in 1967. Yes, many lives were and are being saved. Unfortunately for my mom, now thinking of it, it was not the case for my late mother. She had been diagnosed with kidney failure, and I remember that somewhere in 2010, she had only been left with 5 years to live, according to the doctors and the state of her kidneys. My mom lived 14 years with kidney failure. Also, before kidney failure, she was diagnosed with the wrong medication, which led to kidney failure. At the end of her life, a year before she passed, they also gave up on her; she was told there was nothing they could do for her, and the best option was to try and live comfortably until the end. 😔 Maybe a story for another day, just maybe. Hello, hello. I hope you are all well!

Last year, I assured myself that 2024 would be a great year, but it turned out to be not so great. I lost my mom on Sunday, the 9th of June 2024.

We travelled to Zimbabwe, where we laid her to rest.
