Even your local skin SUPER hero needs a creative break every now and then. 🦸‍♀️😂

Because apparently staring at my laptop, my treatment menu and my to-do list does NOT magically make creative ideas appear. Who knew?! 🤣

We are seriously spoilt for coffee spots around here, but I keep finding myself at Vida Café at Paardevlei.

Not too busy, a good brew ☕️ and just enough time to sit, people-watch, let my brain wander and pretend I’m being productive while actually doing absolutely nothing. 😂

And honestly, sometimes stepping away is exactly what I need. A fresh head means better ideas — whether it’s creating content, planning something new for the salon, or thinking about how I can help my clients with their skin journeys.

Sometimes you have to stop doing to start thinking again.

So now I’m curious…

What do YOU do when your brain is screaming “I need a break!”?

☕️ Coffee
🚶‍♀️ Go for a walk
🛍️ Retail therapy
🧶 Get crafty
🌿 Sit somewhere pretty
😴 Hide from everyone and everything 😂

Or are you one of those magical people who can actually switch off without feeling guilty about it?

Please share your secrets. My creative brain needs them. 😂👇🏻

One video and suddenly I’m feeling like a whole influencer. 😂🫣

Sorry to my English followers AGAIN… but honestly, menopause has decided that my brain now only wants to cooperate in my home language. 🤣

And you know what? I’ll take it.

At least when I speak Afrikaans, there’s a slightly better chance that I remember what the heck I actually wanted to say. 😂

So here we are… entering my Afrikaans influencer era.
Please lower your expectations accordingly. 🤣

Can we stop telling women in their 30s that breakouts are just something they have to live with? 👀

Because honestly… I’m not buying it.

If you’re in your 30s, still dealing with breakouts and feeling frustrated because you’ve tried ALL the things, this one is for you.

You don’t need another random skincare recommendation from someone.

And you definitely don’t need to figure out your entire skin game plan by yourself.

That’s literally what I’m here for. 😉

My job is to look at what’s actually happening with YOUR skin, your lifestyle, your current routine and your concerns — and then work out where we go from there.

You just need to show up for yourself.

I’ll bring the skin nerdiness, the experience and a plan. 😜

Because your 30s should not mean accepting that your skin is going to behave like a hormonal teenager forever.

Still fighting breakouts? Let’s chat. ❤️

Last time I checked, we are all still just humans, doing human things. 😂

And let’s be real for a minute… in every daily routine, there are things we absolutely hate doing.

Me currently? I am SO over making dinner that it has officially become a regular Shawn problem. 🫣😂

And I think our skincare routines are exactly the same.

There are the things we love doing…
The things we tolerate because we know they’re good for us…
And then there are those steps we conveniently “forget” about. 👀😂

So tell me…

Which parts of your skincare routine do you LOVE, and which ones do you secretly hate and end up skipping?

And if you don’t feel like commenting, let’s communicate in emojis.

❤️ = I actually love my whole skincare routine
👍 = I love some of it, but definitely skip some steps

I’ll confess my own “I like to skip this” in the comments. 😊

No judgement here. We’re all just trying to keep our skin happy while surviving the rest of life. 😂

Have you started noticing little changes in your skin, but you still feel way too “young” to be worrying about looking “older”? 🙋‍♀️

Then it’s time for us to have a chat.

Because looking after your skin as it changes doesn’t mean you need a 12-step routine, a bathroom cupboard full of products, or a degree in skincare ingredients. 😂

It’s about understanding what your skin needs now and having a simple, consistent routine that supports it.

Your skin is changing. Your routine should change with it.

And no, we are not trying to make you look 25 again. We’re working on keeping your skin healthy, strong, hydrated and looking as good as you feel. ❤️

Let’s keep skincare simple — but make it count.

If you’re noticing changes and aren’t sure where to start, send me a message or book a skin consultation. We’ll work out exactly what your skin needs, without overcomplicating things.

🎭 School concert season is here!

The kids are getting dressed up, hair is being sprayed into submission, faces are covered in makeup and everyone is looking absolutely adorable. 🥹

But every year, once the dust settles, I see the same thing happening…

My book starts filling up with kids whose skin is suddenly unhappy. 😬

Breakouts, congestion, dryness, irritation and sometimes a very unhappy skin barrier.

So, if your child is heading into concert season, here’s how I would help their skin survive it:

🫧 Invest in a proper facial cleanser.
We obviously love the Environ Sebu-Wash, but there are also some really good options available at Clicks and Dis-Chem. You don’t have to spend a fortune.

Not sure what to choose? DM me and I’ll happily point you in the right direction.

💧 Use micellar water instead of makeup wipes.
Makeup wipes can be quite harsh on the skin. Micellar water is generally a gentler option for removing all that concert makeup before properly cleansing.

🧴 Cleanse properly before moisturising.
Once the makeup is off, make sure the skin is actually clean before applying your moisturiser. I’m obviously voting for an Environ moisturiser here, but there are plenty of other options too, like SBR Protect.

🚫 And please… never let them go to bed with a full face of concert makeup.

I know. It’s late. Everyone is tired. There are costumes everywhere and you’ve probably spent the last three hours looking for one missing shoe.

But future-you (and your child’s skin) will thank you. 😂

A little bit of prevention during concert season can save you from a very unhappy skin situation afterwards.

And then… good luck. 😂🎭

Apparently, I have a reputation… 😂

Shawn joked with me the other day that I’m the only person he knows who will actually cancel plans because I feel my cats need me. 🐈‍⬛🐾

And you know what? He’s got a point. 😂

What can I say? Give me a quiet rest day, a craft project in hand, my fur babies close by and absolutely nowhere I have to be… and I’m one happy woman.

For me, recharging doesn’t necessarily mean going somewhere or doing something exciting. Sometimes it means slowing right down, getting creative, pottering around at home and enjoying the little things that make me happy.

Apparently, that’s my idea of a wild night out. 🤣

So tell me… how do YOU recharge?
Are you a “leave me alone, I’m staying home” person, or do you need to get out and do something? 👇

If you are not acne or breakout prone, this is the treatment I would invest in this month to transition my skin from winter into spring! 🌸✨

The Environ Vibrant-C Micro Peel is a quick 45-minute treatment that instantly leaves your skin feeling plump, moisturised and beautifully refreshed — with no downtime.

Perfect if your skin is looking a little dull, tired and blah after winter and you’re ready for that fresh, radiant spring glow.

This perfectly blended Ascorbic Acid + Salicylic Acid peel is applied with the Environ Signature DF Machine and Iontophoresis, helping to deliver that beautiful combination of exfoliation, hydration and radiance.

Basically… your skin gets a no opt-out-of-glow option. 😂✨

Not sure if this is the right treatment for your skin?

Send me a WhatsApp and I’ll guide you. 💬

Stepping out of my comfort zone here… 🙈

I felt like I wanted to share a little bit about my amazing day at the Environ Factory. 💚

I’m chatting away in Afrikaans, so if Afrikaans isn’t your thing, no worries at all if you don’t stick around for the full video. 😂

But I really wanted to share this experience with you because Environ is such a big part of what I do at The Beauty Project, and getting the opportunity to do this advanced training was honestly pretty special.

So here goes… me, stepping in front of the camera and sharing it all. 🫣💚
