Every few weeks, the WCBA Western Cape Beekeepers Association hosts practical & theoretical learning sessions for anyone keen to attend and keep their skills updated. We're learning from industry yodas like the incredible Brendan Ashley Cooper from and others like him. So very grateful!

Loss has been a huge part of this winter. The bees are not coping and we've mourned more than at any other time on our beekeeper life path. Please feed the bees and more especially...grow plants, trees and herbs that flower in winter like the Cape Aloe.

My week in pictures. Kombucha workshop, selling bee-inspired-merch to be able to keep rescuing the ladies 🐝🐝🐝. My Beautiful that won silver in the Eskom Expo. 3 Wisdom teeth extracted, a wandering jew plant gift and today, slow and gentle on the couch.
Im so grateful that I dont have a "job"....truly! I cant imagine having to ask someone else if its ok to take time off to care for myself or even just be present with my Beautiful during the competition 😌. This privilege is our collective birthright.

Canola is flowering NOW. Bees love it! After winter, Canola is such a gift to bees! They're HUNGRY...and just about make it through winter. FEED THE BEES. GROW FLOWERS!!
Potplant was heavy!! Bee family was tiny (maybe 10 000 at most). Bees have been struggling through winter. The dearth of food available is a constant concern! Please humans...stop messing with their food. If you dont, YOU will starve. Wake up honey please!
