This beautiful client came to me with tape-in extensions that had turned an unwanted grassy tone after an unsuccessful toning attempt by another stylist.
Our goal was to bring her hair back to life! 💚

How Textile Dyes Cause the Brassiness Trap 🤷
• They Stain Rather Than Deposit: Real hair color molecules pe*****te the cortex and sit inside the hair structure. Textile dyes act more like a heavy coat of fabric paint on the surface. When you try to "tone down" or slightly lift the hair, the chemical reaction often strips away only the superficial factory glaze, suddenly exposing harsh, underlying industrial pigments like neon orange or raw yellow.
• They Resist Standard Hair Color: Normal salon toners and glosses are formulated to interact with human melanin—not synthetic industrial chemicals. When you apply a standard toner to hair loaded with textile dye, the formulas clash. The hair will either completely repel the toner (leaving it brassy) or absorb it in muddy, uneven patches.
• The "Blackout" Danger: Because industrial dyes don't react normally, trying to use a darker dye to correct the brassiness can backfire completely. For example, applying a mild light brown dye over textile-dyed hair can cause an aggressive chemical reaction that accidentally turns the extensions completely jet-black or a muddy green.
What This Means for Your Hair 🤷
If your extensions have textile dye on them, standard hair-toning rules fly out the window. They will oxidize and turn copper or brassy very quickly from basic washing, UV rays, or heat tools

When getting quotes for Keratin Bond / K-Tip hair extensions, one of the biggest mistakes clients make is simply asking:
❌ “How much for 100 strands?”
The problem? Not every company’s individual strand contains the same amount of hair.
For example, 100 strands could mean:
100 × 1g = 100g of hair
100 × 0.8g = 80g of hair
100 × 0.7g = 70g of hair
100 × 0.5g = 50g of hair
So although both salons may say “100 strands”, you could be receiving 50g of hair from one and 100g from another.
That's a HUGE difference. 👀
💡 So what should you ask?
Instead of asking:
“How much do you charge for 100 strands?”
Ask:
👉 “What is the weight of each individual K-Tip strand?”
👉 “How many grams of hair will I actually be getting?”
👉 “What quality and type of hair are you using?”
