If a barber stays broke, it’s rarely because of lack of skill—it’s usually because of habits and mindset. Let’s be real about the mistakes that quietly keep many barbers stuck:

1️⃣. Charging Too Cheap
This is the #1 trap.
You’re afraid to increase price
You attract low-value clients
You work more but earn less
👉 Cheap price = stressful clients + no growth.

2️⃣. No Clear Brand
If people can’t describe you, they won’t remember you.
No unique style or identity
No specialty (fades, designs, luxury service, etc.)
👉 If you look like every barber, you’ll be treated like one.

3️⃣. Poor Customer Experience
Some barbers focus only on the haircut and ignore everything else.
Bad attitude
No conversation or too much talking
Uncomfortable environment
👉 Clients don’t just pay for haircut—they pay for experience.

4️⃣. Inconsistency
One day your cut is perfect, next day it’s average
Mood affects your work
👉 Inconsistent barbers don’t get loyal clients.

5️⃣. Dirty or Disorganized Shop
This silently chases money away.
Hair everywhere
Smelly environment
Dirty tools
👉 Nobody wants to pay good money in a dirty place.

6️⃣. No Savings / Bad Money Habits
You make money but remain broke.
Spend everything you earn
No plan for equipment upgrades
No emergency fund
👉 Income without control = permanent struggle.

7️⃣. No Marketing
You depend only on “walk-ins.”
No social media presence
No pictures of your work
No referrals strategy
👉 If people don’t see you, they won’t book you.

8️⃣. Ignoring Skill Upgrade
Some barbers stop learning.
Same old styles
No modern techniques
Fear of trying new things
👉 If you don’t grow, your income won’t grow.

9️⃣. Bad Time Management
Coming late to shop
Keeping clients waiting too long
Wasting productive hours
👉 Time wasted = money lost.

🔟. Wrong Circle (Environment)
Who you move with matters.
Friends that don’t take work seriously
Too much gossip, too little focus
👉 Your environment can keep you average.

1️⃣1️⃣. No Discipline
Skipping work
Drinking or distracting habits during work hours
No structure
👉 Talent without discipline stays broke.

1️⃣2️⃣. Fear of Growth
This one is deep.
Afraid to raise prices
Afraid to open your own shop
Afraid to stand out
👉 Fear keeps many barbers stuck at the same level for years.
Reality Check
A broke barber is not just about money—it’s about decisions.
If you fix even 3–4 of these, your income can change your life.

ABOUT ME — KAYgieBarber 💈✂️

**I’m Hulisani Elliot Makhwedzhana Muleya, professionally known as KAYgieBarber — a passionate barber, entrepreneur, and self-made creative whose journey is built on hard work, resilience, and a deep love for the art of barbering.**

Born on **5 December 1993** at **Beitbridge Hospital** and raised in **Malala, Beitbridge, Zimbabwe**, my story began with humble beginnings. I come from a proud **Venda family known as the Makhwedzhana family**. According to our family history, the Makhwedzhana family has roots in **South Africa** and later moved to Zimbabwe during a period of conflict Years ago, eventually making Beitbridge home.

My journey into barbering did not begin with a shop, expensive equipment, or perfect circumstances. It began with **a passion, a pair of clippers, and a dream**.

In **2012**, I started working as a cleaner at **Beitbridge Border Post** under a three-year contract. While working there, I began cutting hair independently in my spare time. What started as a simple passion slowly became a skill, then a profession, and eventually a brand — **KAYgieBarber**.

After completing my contract, I decided to follow my passion seriously. In **2015**, I moved to **South Africa** and continued building my career as a professional barber until **2018**.

In **2018**, I returned to Zimbabwe, where I continued working as a barber until **2022**. In **2023**, I returned to South Africa and continued growing **KAYgieBarber**, turning years of experience, creativity, and dedication into a professional brand.

To me, barbering is not simply about cutting hair.

**A haircut can change how a person looks, how they feel, and how they carry themselves.**

Every client deserves to leave the chair feeling confident, fresh, respected, and ready to face the world. That is why I put passion, attention to detail, creativity, and professionalism into every cut.

**KAYgieBarber is a journey.**

It is the story of someone who started as a cleaner, discovered a passion, developed a skill, crossed borders, faced challenges, returned home, started again, and continued moving forward.

My journey between **Zimbabwe and South Africa** has shaped the barber I am today. Every place I have worked, every client I have served, and every challenge I have faced has contributed to the person behind the brand.

I believe your beginning does not determine your destination.

**Where you start is not where you have to finish.**

Today, I am proud to carry the name **KAYgieBarber** and continue building a brand that represents **quality, confidence, creativity, resilience, and self-belief**.

My goal is not only to give people fresh haircuts, but to build a barbering brand that people can trust, respect, and remember.

**2012** — Started working at Beitbridge Border Post while developing my barbering skills.
**2015–2018** — Built my professional barbering experience in South Africa.
**2018–2022** — Returned to Zimbabwe and continued barbering.
**2023–Present** — Returned to South Africa and continued building the KAYgieBarber brand.

From **Beitbridge to South Africa**, from a cleaner to a professional barber, the journey continues.

**This is KAYgieBarber.**

**Built from passion.
Driven by purpose.
Shaped by heritage.
Powered by resilience.
Defined by the journey. 💈✂️🔥**

** **

**personal story + professional brand identity**, so it can work as your main “About Me” page while still being easy to adapt into a shorter Instagram,TikTok,YouTube and Facebook bio.

Here’s a stronger, more motivational version for your evening post:

🪨 **When someone throws a stone at you, don’t run away. Catch it, and use it to build a castle for yourself.** 🏰🔥

Sometimes the things meant to break you can become the foundation of your success. **Turn pain into power, challenges into opportunities, and setbacks into comebacks.** 💪🏾✨

🌙 **Good evening, fellows. Keep pushing. Your castle is still being built.** 👑
