This lovely lady came to us after years of box colouring her hair. She saw our posts on social media and knew she needed an appointment with a grey blending specialist 🩶

She’s actually only around 20–40% grey, mainly through her temples, sideburns and parting — which is where her regrowth was becoming the most noticeable.

Our goal was to blend her grey beautifully into her natural colour so her grow-out will be much softer and less obvious. We focused on her problem areas, brought her natural depth back throughout the hair and worked on eliminating the unwanted warmth from the previous colour. We then toned her natural grey with a soft ash/gold balance to complement her skin tone, keeping the result natural and flattering rather than overly silver.

Smoky Grey — First Step 🩶

This client came to us with a very specific goal: she wanted to introduce a smoky grey effect into her hair, but she wasn’t ready to fully embrace her natural grey just yet.

She also didn’t want to be in the salon every 3 weeks colouring her regrowth.

Her hair had previously been coloured dark, and that artificial pigment was extremely stubborn to lift.

She eventually wants to move towards a brighter, softer grey with highlights, so we decided not to rush the process.

🩶We worked with fine baby lights to begin breaking up the darker colour.
🩶We added a smoky grey toner over the lighter pieces to create a soft grey effect.
🩶We used a demi-permanent root melt to softly blur the regrowth.
🩶We’re moving away from permanent colour so future appointments can be more manageable and we can gradually lift through the remaining artificial pigment.
🩶K18 was used throughout the lightening process to help protect the integrity of the hair.
🩶Finished with a good trim and a Biosense treatment to restore softness and shine.

The goal is to create a softer grow-out, reduce that harsh regrowth line and gradually work towards a brighter grey without compromising the condition of the hair.

BLACK BOX DYE → GREY BLEND 🩶

This one was a challenge… but SO worth it!

This stunning client came to us after years of using black box colour, completely over constant root touch ups and the harsh contrast between her dark lengths and her beautiful, snow-white natural regrowth.

Because her hair was previously coloured black, we couldn’t simply lift it out and expect a perfect silver result. Box colour + bleach = a process! 😅

For her first sitting, we worked with extremely fine baby lights to gently break through the artificial pigment and soften that strong demarcation line between the black and her natural white.

We managed to lift some of the previously coloured hair all the way to around a level 8, creating enough lighter pieces to start connecting her natural grey with the rest of her hair.

And honestly… for a first session, look at that blend! 😍

This isn’t about rushing the process, it’s about creating a beautiful, wearable transition while protecting the integrity of the hair — and gradually getting her closer to her natural grey goal.

This gorgeous client came in with a challenge that really put our colour knowledge to the test 💭 She wasn’t ready to embrace a full grey blend, and she definitely didn’t want to be blonde!

Her goal? A softer, more natural look that would grow out beautifully with less maintenance. With around 90% natural grey at the roots and a solid permanent colour through the lengths, we knew we needed to break that harsh line without making her feel too light.

Instead of a traditional blonde highlight, we carefully placed ultra-fine babylights throughout the hair to soften the regrowth, create dimension, and blend her natural grey seamlessly into her existing colour.

The result? A soft, lived-in brunette that feels natural, grows out beautifully, and gives her much more time between appointments 🤎

She has around 10–20% natural grey but because she had been colouring her roots dark, every regrowth left a harsh line with a few silver hairs standing out.
