Every entrepreneur has a moment where a simple idea feels bigger than fear… and that’s where my journey with PureU Natural began.
There were days filled with excitement and vision, and nights filled with doubt, questions, and wondering if I was truly capable of building something meaningful. Starting PureU Natural was never just about creating a brand — it was about believing in purpose, passion, and the courage to step into the unknown.
Walking into the DUT Entrepreneurial Incubation Programme, I carried more than just a business idea. I carried dreams, hopes, and the determination to create something that reflects authenticity and empowerment. The journey challenged me in ways I never expected. It stretched my confidence, tested my resilience, and taught me that growth often happens in uncomfortable spaces.
Standing in front of audiences, sharing my vision, learning from mentors, and receiving recognition reminded me that every small step forward matters. Every late night, every lesson, every moment of self-doubt was shaping me into the entrepreneur and woman I am becoming.
PureU Natural represents more than products. It represents self-belief, transformation, and the reminder that when you remain true to who you are, you create something that resonates far beyond business.
This journey has taught me that success is not just about achievements or certificates — it’s about growth, impact, and inspiring others to believe that their dreams are valid and possible.

Why Use Beard Wax? (Feat. Calendula Wax & a Gentle Sales Nudge 😏)
Without beard wax, your facial hair basically wakes up every morning and chooses chaos.
Left alone, it goes in every direction except the one you intended.
Beard wax:
tames flyaways
keeps your beard shaped
prevents that “lost-in-the-forest-for-3-days” aesthetic
adds a healthy shine so you look like a man with a plan
Now… let’s talk about the real MVP:
🌼 Calendula Wax — Your Beard’s Built-In Therapist
Calendula wax comes from the calendula flower (Calendula officinalis), which is widely known for its soothing, anti-inflammatory, and skin-calming properties.
These aren’t made-up influencer facts — calendula has been used traditionally for skin healing, reducing irritation, and moisturising the skin and hair thanks to its naturally occurring flavonoids and fatty acids (yep, real science).
In your beard wax, calendula wax helps:
🌼 Soothe irritated skin (goodbye itchiness)
🌼 Keep the beard soft (no more sharp hay-bale beard)
🌼 Maintain style with a gentle, natural hold
🌼 Reduce dryness and keep the hair nourished
Basically, it’s like giving your beard a tiny spa day… every day.
Ready to upgrade your beard from “wild adventure mode” to “smooth, groomed, and handsome”?
👉 Get your Calendula Beard Wax from PureU Natural today.
Your face deserves the good stuff — made simply, naturally, and with ingredients your skin will actually thank you for.

Episode: “The First Market Leap of 2019”
2019 was the year PureU Naturals stopped whispering dreams and finally said them out loud — in public — at an actual market, with actual customers, and yes… with nerves doing the Macarena in the background.
Picture it: baskets of pastel bath treats, beard wax tins shining like proud little soldiers, soft handmade soaps stacked neatly, and Shea butter sugar scrubs, striking a pose like it was ready for a product shoot.
All displayed under the summer sun — a DIY stall brimming with colour, effort, love, and just a hint of “Ooooh, I really hope people like this.”
And then something beautiful happened.
They came.
Not just strangers passing by — but people we knew.
Friends, family, neighbours, colleagues… all showing up, walking straight to the table, smiling like they already believed in PureU Naturals long before we knew we were allowed to.
Every “Hey! We came to support!”
Every “I’ll take one of those!”
Every hug, cheer, and familiar face…
It fueled us, grounded us, and made that first market unforgettable.
That day wasn’t just the launch of a brand —
it was a reminder that community carries you before the world knows your name.
And that’s the magic we still pour into every product you take home.
(References: Community support plays a crucial role in the early success of small handmade businesses, boosting visibility, confidence, and customer trust — especially in natural skincare ventures.)

Spin-Off Episode: “The Shea Butter Sugar Scrub Suggestion of 2019”
Every great saga has a plot twist…
For Pure U Natural, it happened in 2019, when someone casually said:
“Hey, why don’t you add sugar scrubs to your range?”
And just like that — boom — the Shea Butter Sugar Scrub was born.
It was never about making “just another scrub.”
It was about creating something your skin would actually thank you for.
Soft, creamy, exfoliating, and lush — like dessert for your skin but without any calories or guilt.
So… who can and should use a Shea Butter Sugar Scrub?
You, if your skin sometimes feels dull, dry, or rough
You, if you love glowing skin without aggressive exfoliants
You, if your elbows, knees, or heels are staging a quiet rebellion
You, if you want something gentle enough for sensitive skin but effective enough to show results
You, if your shower routine needs a little “main character moment”
Shea butter brings deep hydration and nourishment, while sugar provides a mild, skin-polishing exfoliation that leaves you smooth, bright, and moisturised — not stripped.
Perfect for:
• Dry skin
• Normal skin
• Flaky or textured skin
• Pre-shave prep
• Self-care days
• Anyone who wants that “I just stepped out of a spa” glow
Basically… if you have skin, you qualify.
(References: Natural skincare guides highlight shea butter for its moisturizing fatty acids, vitamins A & E, and sugar exfoliation for gentle removal of dead skin cells while supporting hydration.)

The Bastile Saga — Chapter 3: “2019 & The Great Soap Giveaway”
Welcome back to the Bastile Saga, where every chapter contains more olive oil, more learning, and more unsuspecting volunteers than the last.
By 2019, I wasn’t just experimenting — I was determined to figure out exactly how Bastile soap felt for the people who would one day buy it.
So naturally… everyone I knew became part of the research.
Friends? Got soap.
Family? Got soap.
Strangers who made eye contact for too long? Also got soap.
Because this chapter was all about discovering the benefits that olive oil brings to you, the user — not just to the soap maker.
Traditional soap-making references often praise olive oil for good reason:
✨ Gentle cleansing that doesn’t strip your skin’s natural oils.
✨ Deep moisturization thanks to oleic acid + squalene.
✨ Antioxidants & vitamins (E, A, K) that help protect the skin.
✨ Naturally soothing & hypoallergenic, perfect for sensitive skin.
And the feedback?
Soft skin.
Happy skin.
And one common theme:
“This feels so gentle.”
That’s when I knew the Bastile Saga was becoming something real — something people genuinely enjoyed using.
And today, that once-experimental bar is refined, perfected, and officially for sale through PureU Natural.
Still simple. Still soft. Still the Bastile bar that started it all… just now made with purpose (and fewer kitchen disasters).
(References: Cold process and natural soap-making guides highlight olive oil for its gentle cleansing, moisturizing, vitamin-rich, and soothing skin benefits.)

🧼✨ Bastile Soap: The Sequel — “Braver, Bubbly-er, and Slightly Less Scary” ✨🧼
If my first attempt at making Bastile cold process soap in 2018 felt like facing a dragon armed with only a stick blender…
then this second attempt felt more like facing the same dragon — but at least this time I brought snacks and a little confidence.
And there I was again: gloves on, goggles fogging, whispering to the lye mixture like it was a skittish pet.
But this round?
Oh, this round was smoother.
The oils behaved.
The batter traced like it actually respected me.
And the soap?
Creamier, silkier, and even gentler than the first.
According to traditional soap-making guides, Bastile soap — made mostly with olive oil — is loved for:
✨ its creamy, low-bubble lather
✨ its gentleness on sensitive skin
✨ its conditioning feel
✨ its long-lasting, mild bar
✨ its ability to cleanse without stripping the skin
Basically, it’s the introvert of soaps: soft-spoken, kind, dependable, and loved once you get to know it.
And yes — this beautiful bar, once just a nervous experiment in a tiny kitchen, is now refined, perfected, and officially for sale through PureU Natural.
Still small-batch.
Still handmade.
Still created with far fewer heart palpitations than the original. 😅
(References: Traditional cold process and natural soap-making resources highlight Bastile soap for its mildness, high olive-oil conditioning, and gentle cleansing properties.)

Once upon a salty Durban afternoon, PureU Natural received a message that every small business owner knows well:
“Can you make ocean-themed favour soaps?”
Now… did I have a barnacle mold?
Absolutely not.
Did I want a barnacle mold?
More than sunscreen on a beach day.
But these quirky little soaps—lumpy, bumpy, and charmingly odd—somehow ended up looking like barnacles anyway.
Small business rule #1:
Never turn a sale away.
Small business rule #2:
Always, always make a plan.
And so the Ocean Breeze favour soaps were born—tiny seaside treasures with a fresh, airy fragrance often described (in fragrance references) as uplifting, crisp, and energizing. The kind of scent that makes you feel like you’re standing at the shoreline with the wind in your hair.
Made from gentle glycerine soap, which traditional soap-making guides note for its moisture-attracting, soft-cleansing, skin-comforting properties—perfect for favours that guests will actually enjoy using.
And the background photo in this post?
Yes, that ocean scene was taken by me at Shelly Beach — a perfect match for these barnacle-ish little ocean gems.
Soap for party favours, why not? ... available for sale through PureU Natural—still quirky, still breezy, and full of small-business heart. 🌊💙
(References: Fragrance and soap-making guides commonly describe ocean notes as uplifting and fresh, and glycerine soap as gentle and hydrating due to its humectant nature.)

Back in 2018, still—long before PureU Natural had a name, a logo, or even a whisper of becoming a real business—there was that unforgettable day:
The day I decided to face the legendary beast known as cold process soap-making.
Picture the scene:
A Durban kitchen.
A bowl.
A stick blender with far too much confidence.
And lye… the very ingredient every beginner researches obsessively before even cracking the lid.
And being a scientist, way too much PPE!
This was my first attempt at making Bastile cold process soap—70% olive oil, a bit of coconut oil courage, and a whole lot of “please don’t explode.” According to traditional soap-making references, Bastile bars are loved for being creamy, extra gentle, and nourishing—thanks to their high olive-oil content. Cold process guides often describe them as great for sensitive skin, with a slow cure that rewards patience with a luxurious, mild lather.
Did I think the mixture might volcano?
Absolutely.
Did I keep a mental escape plan in case the soap started rebelling?
Without question.
But—miraculously—it behaved.
It thickened.
It traced.
It transformed.
And from that slightly chaotic moment, a silky, gentle Bastile bar was born.
Even better:
That early experiment—the one that nearly scared me out of soap-making—is now a refined, perfected, and for-sale bar through PureU Natural.
Still creamy, still gentle, still lovingly handmade… but now crafted with a lot less panic and a lot more confidence. 😉
(References: Traditional cold process soap-making guides frequently highlight Bastile soap for its mildness, creamy lather, and olive oil’s conditioning properties.)

Once upon a humid Durban morning back in 2018—long before “PureU Natural” had a logo, a plan, or even a dream journal—there was simply… a kitchen, a kettle, and a very determined human melting glycerine like it was an Olympic sport.
The request?
“Can you make rose-shaped soaps as wedding favours?”
At the time, PureU wasn’t a company. It wasn’t even a thought. It was just a spark—small, pink, fragrant, and shaped like a rose.
Those first soaps cooled on a counter that doubled as a study desk. The rose fragrance filled the air, bringing that classic aromatherapy calm and soft romantic warmth that rose is so loved for. The essential oils added their gentle touch—often described in aromatherapy references as uplifting, soothing, and heart-softening. And the glycerine? Naturally hydrating, humectant-rich, and kind on the skin, which is why it’s so often recommended in traditional soap-making guides.
When the wedding guests received those tiny pink petals of self-care, PureU didn’t yet know a business was blooming.
But that day was one of the seeds.
The second wedding favour order… and the one of the first whispers of a brand that would soon be born.
And just like a rose, it grew quietly—but beautifully. 🌹✨
(References: Aromatherapy traditions and natural soap-making guides commonly note rose fragrance for its calming aroma, essential oils for emotional uplift, and glycerine for gentle hydration.)

“Back in 2018, fresh out of my very first soap-making class, I decided I was basically a certified soap wizard. So obviously, the next logical step was… making opaque glycerine lavender soaps for an entire wedding. As favours. For real guests. With real noses.
Between soaps not setting, lavender oil leaking, and me wondering why my kitchen suddenly smelled like a spa having a nervous breakdown, I pushed through.
But here’s the magic of lavender: it calms nerves, improves sleep, eases stress, and leaves everyone floating around in a peaceful purple cloud, right?
In the end, those little lavender blocks of love came out beautifully. The guests smelled like peaceful angels, and I gained a new skill: looking calm while panicking internally.
Would I do it again? Absolutely. Lavender clearly works.”

Shea butter isn’t just a skin savior—it’s got some hilarious quirks too! From edible surprises to ancient remedies, this buttery balm has a few unexpected tricks up its sleeve.
Funny & Fun Facts About Shea Butter
- It’s edible—but don’t eat your lotion! In its purest form, shea butter can be used for cooking. Some chocolate makers even swap cocoa butter for shea butter. Just don’t snack on your moisturizer unless it’s food-grade.
- It’s the MacGyver of skincare. Shea butter has been used to treat everything from wounds and jaundice to diarrhea and even leprosy. If your grandma had shea butter, she probably used it for everything—including fixing the TV.
- It’s basically tree fat. Shea butter is made from the fat extracted from the nuts of the African shea tree. So yes, you’re rubbing tree fat all over your body—and loving it.
- It’s anti-aging, but don’t expect miracles. Raw shea butter is praised for its anti-aging properties. Some people swear it erases wrinkles. Others just enjoy smelling like a nutty forest goddess.
- It’s a beauty product with a passport. Shea butter has traveled from African villages to global beauty shelves. It’s like the Beyoncé of moisturizers—born humble, now a worldwide icon.
- It melts like butter—but don’t fry eggs with it. Shea butter melts at body temperature, which is why it feels so luxurious. But if you’re tempted to cook with it, remember: your skin will thank you, your omelet won’t.
