Choose love!

I have tried to stay away from the news in South Africa… but it's everywhere and it feels so heavy. So, so incredibly heavy. So much anger, hatred and sadness.

Cry the beloved country.

An incredibly powerful saying, and one of my favourite books. The novel captures the extremes of human emotion, and Alan Paton’s faith in human dignity in the worst of circumstances is both poignant and uplifting. The novel shows the brutality of apartheid, but despite its unflinching portrayal of darkness and despair in South Africa, it still offers hope for a better future. The novel itself is a cry for South Africa, which we learn is beloved in spite of everything; a cry for its people, its land, and the tentative hope for its freedom from hatred, poverty, and fear.

The book was written in 1948... and it feels like 74 years later, we are still crying for our beautiful country.

I believe that no matter what commandments, sutras, religious or spiritual practices you follow... if you choose love, you will win. In fact, we all will. It’s that simple.

"When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too."

So let's choose to give that love to South Africa today. I am giving all of it over to a better country, and a hope for freedom from hatred, poverty and fear.

That's it. Choose Love!

Okay. Love you. Bye.
