Saturday Reflection
This week, while reading 1 John, I found myself sitting with these words:
“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
1 John 3:18
It made me think about the quiet ways God’s love is often shown to us through other people.
A message to say, “I was thinking about you.”
Flowers left for someone.
A handwritten note.
A small act of kindness that says, without many words, I see you.
I am very comfortable giving and caring for others. Receiving can be harder for me. Sometimes kindness overwhelms me because a part of me still wonders whether I am worthy of it.
But 1 John keeps bringing me back to something so simple:
God loved us first.
Perhaps part of learning to love as God asks us to is not only learning how to give His love, but also learning how to receive it when He sends it through the hands and hearts of others.
So this weekend, perhaps we can ask ourselves:
Who can I show love to , not only with my words, but with my actions?
And when someone shows that love to me, can I simply receive it with gratitude?
Thank You, God, for the people through whom You quietly remind us that we are seen and loved.

Selah.
A word that came to me in prayer.
Pause.
After one of the most difficult seasons of my life, a beautiful calming oil blend was gifted to me.
I carried it with me. I used it when I felt overwhelmed. Eventually I began using it with my clients at Takara.
They started asking, “What is that smell?”
And then, “Can I have some to take home?”
When I asked my friend Melonie Cromhout Gobel if she could make the blend for me, the name came immediately:
Selah.
A word the Holy Spirit had placed on my heart.
Today, every treatment at Takara begins with a pause.
A breath.
A moment to leave the outside world outside.
And Selah has quietly found its way into handbags, bedside tables and the homes of so many of our clients.
Perhaps that is why it remains so special to me.
It isn't simply something we sell.
It is a reminder:
Pause. Breathe. God is here.

As the year begins to get louder, perhaps we don't need more.
Perhaps we need somewhere that asks less of us.
Two hours where nobody needs anything from you.
No phone to answer.
No decisions to make.
No conversation to keep going.
Nowhere else you need to be.
Just time.
Our Serenity experience brings together a Kalahari Honeybush Facial and a 60-minute Full Body Massage , two unhurried hours designed to allow you to step away from the noise for a while.
Lately, Serenity has become one of the experiences our clients are choosing again and again.
Perhaps because sometimes we don't need to do more.
We simply need somewhere we can stop.

TAKARA TIP | Rest is more than stopping
Sometimes we sit down, but our minds keep running.
We lie in bed, but we're still thinking.
We take a break, but we're scrolling, answering messages and remaining available to everyone around us.
Our bodies may have stopped, but we haven't truly rested.
Lately, so many of the people walking through Takara's doors have said the same things:
I'm tired.
My body is sore.
I feel overwhelmed.
I just need some time for myself.
Sometimes we don't need more stimulation.
We need less.
Less noise.
Less conversation.
Less expectation.
A little time where nothing is required of us.
That is why quiet, unhurried touch is such an important part of what we do at Takara.
Sometimes the greatest gift we can give ourselves is permission to simply be still.

Sometimes the most important part of taking care of someone is simply noticing what they need.
Some days you need deep rest.
Some days you need quiet.
Some days you simply need to feel cared for.
At Takara, we want the time you spend with us to feel like it was prepared especially for you.
That’s the Takara way.

Many entrepreneurs focus on building their businesses without initially thinking about what will happen to the business in the long term.
However, questions about legacy and succession become increasingly important as businesses grow.
Business owners may eventually need to consider:
👉🏼 Who will lead the business in the future?
👉🏼 Can the business be transferred or sold?
👉🏼 Are governance structures in place to support continuity?
Thinking about these questions early allows entrepreneurs to make strategic decisions that protect the future of the business.
Building a business is not only about the present — it is also about ensuring that the value created today can continue to benefit others in the future.
💁🏻♀️ Businesses built with intention are more likely to endure.

A prayer for the week ahead
Father,
Sometimes I wonder if I am doing enough.
I look at the things I have got wrong, the places where life hasn't turned out as I imagined, and I can feel myself wanting to shrink.
But You keep reminding me that You are not asking me to have everything figured out.
You are asking me to trust You.
So this week, when I am afraid, help me to put my trust in You.
When I am tired, remind me that I don't have to carry everything in my own strength.
When I don't have the words, help me simply to be present.
And when You give me an opportunity to encourage someone, love someone or bring Your light into their day, give me the courage to obey.
May my life point to Your Word, not mine.
Use what I have, Lord.
My hands.
My story.
My work.
My ordinary days.
And when I wonder whether any of it is enough, remind me that my part is simply to keep walking with You, one day at a time.
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.”
Psalm 56:3
Amen.

Saturday Reflection
Sometimes love simply means being willing to sit with someone in their pain.
This week God reminded me that some of the places in our own hearts that still hurt can make us more aware of the hurt in someone else.
Grief doesn't always need an answer.
It doesn't need to be fixed.
And it certainly doesn't follow a timeline.
Sometimes people simply need to know that they are seen, remembered and not alone.
“Weep with those who weep.”
Romans 12:15
Perhaps part of what God does with the things we have walked through is give us a softer heart for someone walking a similar road.
We don't always need the right words.
Sometimes we just need to be willing to notice, reach out and sit beside them , and quietly remind them that God is there too.
