What nail fungus looks like?

Nail fungus can cause the nail to become thick or ragged and appear yellow, green, brown or black. An infected nail may separate from the nail bed. Nail fungus is a common condition that begins as a white or yellow spot under the tip of your fingernail or toenail.

How can I get rid of fingernail fungus?

Often, you can take care of a fungal nail infection at home: Try over-the-counter antifungal nail creams and ointments. Several products are available. If you notice white markings on the surfaces of the nails, file them off, soak your nails in water, dry them, and apply the medicated cream or lotion

What happens if you don't treat nail fungus?

If you let a nail fungus infection go for too long, several problems emerge. The infected nail can become misshapen and increasingly separated from your nail bed. Itching and pain are unpleasant side effects

Should I be worried about nail fungus?

Anytime you think you have a fungal nail infection, or any nail problem, and treating it at home doesn't help, see your doctor. The sooner you go, the sooner your doctor can help. Fungal nail infections can get worse over time.

Treatment consists of anti-fungals
Treatments include oral anti-fungal drugs, medicated nail polish or cream or nail removal.
