Greying and shedding are two different mechanisms, and the Scalp Leave-On is the one product in the range with data on both.

Drishka has been using it since February.

Fitness: The post-workout skincare step fitness lovers may be missing - Early Breakfast with Africa Melane 10/09/2026

The step most gym-goers skip.

We were on air this morning 🎧 — the Collagen Quench Leave-On Jelly Mask featured on The Fitness & Wellness Reset with Liezel, part of Africa Melane's show on CapeTalk and 702. The topic: the post-workout skincare step fitness lovers are missing.

Here's the part people don't know. A collagen molecule is far too big to get through your skin. Rub collagen on your face and it sits on top of it — it never gets to where collagen is actually made.

So we didn't use collagen. Collagen Quench uses ALGAKTIV® Collage™ at 3% — the building blocks your skin uses to build its own collagen, small enough to actually get in.

And you don't wait weeks to feel it. Ten minutes after one application:
💧 Hydration up 24.9%
〰️ Fine lines 13.7% shallower
✨ Radiance up 31.4%

Ten minutes. One layer.

Which is exactly why it belongs in your gym bag. After a hard session — sweat, a hot shower, wind, sun — your skin comes home flat and thirsty. Smooth on a layer, leave it on (no rinsing, no timer, no waiting around), carry on with your day. Your skin plumps up while you cool down.

Keep using it and the collagen work keeps building underneath. The glow, though — that's immediate.

YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR HAIR. BUT ARE YOU TAKING CARE OF YOUR SCALP?

Healthy-looking hair begins at the scalp.

Vitant's scalp and hair care range takes haircare beyond simply washing and conditioning the visible hair. It puts the focus where hair begins, with products developed to support the scalp environment as part of a consistent haircare routine.

From Scalp Reset Shampoo and Conditioner to the targeted Scalp Leave-On Treatment, Vitant gives you the option to build a more focused scalp-care routine at home.

If thinning, premature greying or general scalp health is becoming part of your haircare conversation, it may be time to rethink your routine from the roots up.

Don't just care for your hair. Start with your scalp.

HAIR CARE STARTS BEFORE THE HAIR SHAFT

When people notice thinning, shedding or changes in hair quality, the first instinct is often to change shampoo.

But the visible hair is only part of the picture.

The scalp and follicle environment matter. That is why Vitant's approach to hair care focuses on the scalp itself, rather than treating hair loss as simply a cosmetic problem.

The Vitant Scalp Leave-On Treatment is formulated with 2% Densidyl™ and 1% BioSKN™, with microbiome support, and is designed for concerns including hair loss and premature greying.

It is a leave-on treatment, which means the formulation stays where it is intended to work rather than being rinsed away minutes later.

If thinning hair or scalp health has become a concern, it may be time to look beyond ordinary haircare.

Treat the scalp. Support the environment where hair begins.

A lot of hair research is done on people whose hair is fine. Healthy volunteers are easier to recruit and easier to please.

The trial behind the Scalp Leave-On Treatment enrolled fifty people who had stress-related shedding, mild to moderate, aged 30 to 50. Half of them were men. It ran 140 days against a placebo group on the identical formula without the active.

If you are here because your hair started coming out after a hard year — that is who was in the room.

When a hair brand shows you a percentage, ask what the other group did.

In each of the studies behind these products, a second group used the identical formula with the active taken out. Same instrument, same days, same people counting — and the people counting did not know which group they were looking at.

Hair density at five months: +11.4% on the active, +4.0% on the placebo. Greying at five months: −24.3% against −7.4%. Scalp oil at four weeks: −36.5% against −16.1%.

The gap is the product. The rest is time passing.

7 INGREDIENTS. ONE PIGMENTATION PROBLEM. VERY DIFFERENT SCIENCE.

Hydroquinone.
Kojic Acid.
Arbutin.
Niacinamide.
Tranexamic Acid.
Vitamin C.
Azelaic Acid.

You’ve probably seen several of them promoted for pigmentation.

But here’s the important part:

They don’t all work the same way.

Melanin production is a pathway, not a single switch. Where an ingredient intervenes in that pathway matters. Some conventional lightening ingredients work further downstream, while other approaches target signalling earlier in the pigmentation process.

That is exactly what Dr Joan van Wyngaard will unpack this Wednesday, 9 September at 18:30, in:

BATTLE OF THE SKIN LIGHTENERS

Which ingredients have genuine evidence?
Where do they work?
And what does “upstream” pigmentation control actually mean?

Free. 30 minutes. Science without the marketing fog.

DARK SPOTS AREN’T ALL THE SAME. SO WHY WOULD YOU TREAT THEM THE SAME WAY?

Spring brings brighter days, more time outdoors and, for many people, a renewed focus on their skin.

That’s often when pigmentation becomes impossible to ignore.

But here’s where skincare gets interesting.

What we call a “dark spot” can have different triggers. Sun exposure, inflammation and post-blemish marks can all influence uneven-looking skin. And the pathway that produces melanin involves far more than one simple switch.

That matters because pigmentation ingredients don’t all work in the same place or in the same way.

Some approaches act further down the melanin-production pathway. Others target signalling earlier in the process.

The question shouldn’t simply be: “What lightens pigmentation?”

A better question is:

“How does this ingredient work, and what evidence supports it?”

That is the Vitant approach to skincare. Understand the biology. Understand the ingredient. Then formulate with purpose.

And next Wednesday, 9 September, Dr Joan van Wyngaard takes this much further in Battle of the Skin Lighteners.

Hydroquinone. Kojic Acid. Arbutin. Niacinamide. Tranexamic Acid. Vitamin C. Azelaic Acid.

Which do what, and where do they act?

That’s a conversation worth having.

YOUR SKIN BARRIER ISN’T JUST A WALL. IT’S A LIVING ECOSYSTEM.
We often talk about cleansing, moisturising and anti-ageing ingredients. But healthy-looking skin starts with something far more fundamental: the skin barrier and its microbiome.
Your skin is home to a complex community of microorganisms. When that environment is supported, the skin is better equipped to retain moisture, maintain resilience and cope with everyday environmental stress.
The problem is that skincare can sometimes work against the skin rather than with it.
Over-cleansing, harsh formulations and constantly stripping away natural oils can leave skin feeling tight, dry, sensitive or uncomfortable.
That is why Vitant Functional Skincare takes a different approach.
The aim isn’t simply to add fashionable ingredients to a formula. It is to combine carefully selected functional actives with formulations designed to support the skin environment.
Because good skincare should do more than make your skin feel good for an hour.
It should work with the biology of your skin.
Protect the barrier. Support the microbiome. Treat the skin intelligently.

There is a video going around
that gives you four signs your hair is thinning, blames all four on one
hormone, and sells you something to swallow.

Three of the four signs are
real. What they are attached to is not.

Short hairs standing up. That is also exactly what new
hair looks like. A new hair comes to a fine tapered point. A broken one ends
bluntly. Hold a few up to the light — you can see the difference.

Tangling. Usually the cuticle, not the
follicle. Colour, heat, hard water and sun lift the scales on the outside of
the strand and it catches on itself.

Dull and frizzy. That is the surface of each
strand, not how many strands you have. Coarse hair can look dull. Fine hair can
shine.

White specks. A white bulb on the root end of
a shed hair is a club hair — the normal end of a growth cycle. Everyone sheds
fifty to a hundred and fifty a day.

Real pattern loss has a pattern:
a parting that widens over months, thinning across the crown while the front
hairline holds.

And most thinning is not
hormonal at all. After a baby. After a fever or surgery. After a big weight
change. Low iron. Thyroid. Tight styles. The change of season. Those need a
blood test more than they need a bottle — and a supplement aimed at hormones does
nothing for any of them.

Vitant has no DHT ingredient and
does not claim one. What it has is two actives measured in people against a
placebo group, in reports we will send you if you ask. In its 140-day
placebo-controlled study, the Densidyl active in our Scalp Leave-On added about
17 more hairs per square centimetre by day 140 — against about 6 on placebo.

Ask five questions of anything
sold for hair. What was measured. In how many people. Against what. For how
long. At the dose that is in the bottle.

If your hair is coming out
suddenly or in patches, see a doctor first.
