Demand warning labels on all unhealthy food Many of us don't realise that some food products we buy threaten our health [1]. We are seeing more and more pe...

Did you know that the brain makes out 2% of our body weight and uses 20-40% of our metabolic needs. Why do we continue to ignore the importance of our gut and the effect it has on the brain?
"Consulting a dietitian for your MENTAL HEALTH is as important as consulting a psychologist"
This might be a strange concept to many but FEEDING YOUR BRAIN is vital for optimal health and function.
What does our brain need? Micronutrients... These are the vitamins and minerals in food that many forget about because we are too busy focusing on the macronutrients (fat, carbs and protein), which is still very important.
Scientific studies show that being well nourished will improve symptoms of depression, anxiety, ADHD and ASD. Focusing on being well-nourished will equip your brain to make energy and produce all those happy, feel-good hormones!
Eat food that can be recognized as food! Whole nutrient-dense foods that are minimally processed and look as close to its natural state.
No, food is not a cure and you should continue to take your meds as prescribed, but we cannot continue to ignore the positive effect our diet plays.

Let's talk about breastfeeding...
Breastfeeding isn't best, feeding your baby is! However that might look like.
Breastfeeding definitely does not come naturally and in the beginning it really wasn't easy for me. It takes time for you as a mother to learn how to breastfeed and you baby needs to learn to drink from you breast as well. It really has been a journey and getting through the first 6 weeks was the thoughest but after that it really is clear sailing! My baby is heathy and strong and I believe breastfeeding him has given us a special bond.
I would like each woman to at least try to breastfeed but if it's not for you, there really is no shame in it.
It is a passion of mine to help and support pregnant and breastfeeding moms. We'll be setting up our baby station at our new practice in Somerset West.
Make a booking ahead so we can schedule you in for the new year.
All the best xx
