The kind of aesthetics I have been busy with…no idea where and if it is going anywhere than our garage, but it doesn’t matter. It has taught be to breathe, to see, to regulate. Make art šŸ™‚

Let’s see this as my final contribution to the anti ageing industry.

By all means, I am no chairperson or key opinion leader and I am not being paid to say anything.

This is MY approach. One I would do for myself as well.

In the world of anti ageing medicine specifically, but actually anti ageing in general- picking out the pieces of science among marketing is not impossible but the effort it requires is immense. So much of the science and data is actually cherry picked or conducted by the same company who distributes it, and it really requires careful scrutiny.

A little note:
With Biostimulators I mean FDA approved ones, Sculptra and Radiesse. Although they are not complication free, the results I have seen in my own practice were outstanding. It is a procedure I will really recommend. I didn’t truly mention Bioremodelling agents such as Profhilo which is definitely another injectable I love, in the correct patient. It doesn’t work for everyone.

Another little note:
I have nothing against fillers! I was lucky to have had no complications in any of my procedures ever (except a lot of vasovagals and one ptosis🫣), I just think there are better and safer ways.

For certain patients a bit of cheek and temple support with fillers took years of their face as it truly changes where light reflects. One of the Biostimulators (Radiesse) one can however use for temple, midface, chin and jawline support and the results will last much longer. One can also do a slow approach and focus on area per area over time as budget allows. Downsides are that it is more expensive than filler and that it is not reversible. But with a careful hand and a cannula the risk is worth it.
A doctor trained in Ultrasound especially around the temples is ideal.
I didn’t even get to necks. Okay Tox Profhilo, Biostimulators but be careful!…then save up to see Dr Nerina. šŸ˜Ž

Ok, the hardest and most humbling post probably up to date.

I am stopping to practice as as a doctor- in aesthetics, in GP work, in everything, except as a practice owner.

This decision has been coming on a very long time and had it not been basically enforced by trusted professionals I would have probably trudged on, as we do. As we do.

I don’t believe social media is the place for spilling guts but as a doctor and someone people invested time (and money in), even just following content, so I do want to briefly skim on why.

- burnout is actually not a badge of honour and it can happen very slowly, especially in neurodiversity and high masking. It works phenomenal, until it stops working. Especially in medicine. Slap in some trauma and minimal time off to process- nope, working harder doesn’t work.
- let’s be honest. My service I am providing is not unique, and very replaceable. I give my all and more to every patient, I can’t do it halfway. At the moment it is to my own, and my childrens’ detriment.
- i have a baby, who I have prayed for for over 5 years. I don’t want to inject botox. I want to be with him in the mornings. And I want to be with my older kids in the afternoons. I want to not miss calls that my kid is sick. I want to not forget things because I am overwhelmed with work things.
- my husband is one of two physicians in Hermanus and to say he works easily 80 plus work weeks is no joke. He needs my support more, as a bestie and as an occasional ward work mule. And that I do with the greatest pleasure because he is just the best husband and person in the world.
-and lastly. I have created a space from scratch that is currently actually self sustaining. I love dreaming of ideas, finding ways to inprove the practice etc. That I can’t do if I consult.

There is a posibility of a wonderful doctor very skilled in aesthetics who can join towards the end of the year, but at the moment there is nothing set in stone.

My appreciation to all who have supported and rooted is endless. Trust me, the sense of grief and failure is immense, but I know this is where obedience is required of me.

Lots of love, always
Linda

Very important message!

I will be scaling down some clinical hours to focus on things I have been neglecting - my children and the running of the business, for that reason I will not be taking any new aesthetic clients until further notice šŸ¤Ž

So, I do believe there is something about inperfection that draws us in. I don’t know if it is this age of copy paste beauty

Follow me for more tax purposes, at own risk. 🤣
