Today's forecast.... possible itchy eyes! Eye allergies, whether seasonal or year-round, are often the cause of itchy eyes. These allergies can be triggered by pollen or pet dander. Irritants like dust and smoke, or products such as lotions, makeup or contact lens solutions can also cause symptoms similar to those of eye allergies.

Washing eyes regularly with a oil free wash will also help remove irritants that get trapped in your lashes and end up in your eyes. A cold water compress over the eyes, eye drops and antihistamine meds can help alleviate symptoms.

The duration of an eye allergy can vary. In some cases, eye allergy reactions may last less than an hour or they may last days, while in others they may last for several weeks or longer especially during a high-pollen season.
