DESCRIPTIONS OF CLASSES
YOGA FLOW/HATHA FLOW
This is one of the most popular types of yoga today. Hatha yoga refers to any type of yoga that teaches phyisical postures, leaving you feeling longer, looser and relaxed. It is a yoga that is easy to learn, and incorporates asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing) and meditation into a complete practice. Vinyassa means ‘flow’, and when practiced we focus on smoothly transitioning from one pose to another with the assistance of our breath. It is a flow that is medium paced, suited to all levels, and will work up a good sweat, so be sure to bring water and a towel, and be prepared to leave FLOATING out the door after a beautiful relaxation period at the end of class. This style is also known as Power Yoga. YIN YOGA
Yin yoga is a practice designed to allow you to access deeper levels of your body during class. It is designed to focus on the connective tissues that surround your joints, particularly the knees, spine, pelvis and sacrum. It is a restorative and passive practice, spending 3-5 minutes in each of the poses (which are generally all seated or floor based postures). In Yin, we deeply relax into the poses, offering much deeper connection to your body. Less of a work out, and more of a ‘work in’. An amazing way to end your day.
