Question:
Is the Ablase treatment an alternative to a surgical blepharoplasty?
Answer:
Yes, often times we may provide as good a result as what could have been achieved with surgery without the risk of scars.
Question:
Is it a painful procedure?
Answer:
We manage pain with local injected anaesthesia or topical anaesthetic cream. Often times the patient has a Stilpain that reduces the pain/ discomfort.

Is there a risk of infection?
Answer:
Yes, with most injuries a bacterial infection may be a risk but this risk is well managed by the use of an antibiotic cream/ tablet.

What is the downtime & healing sequence?
Answer:
Expect a week of ‘downtime’ accompanied by swollen, p***y, red,eye area for the first 3 days, followed by redness for a further 3 days, with some residual pinkness for a few weeks post treatment, which may easily be camouflaged by light makeup , if required.
Question:
Will the Ablase improve the results &/ repair the scars incurred by a previous surgical blepharoplasty?
Answer:
Yes, we find that not every surgical blepharoplasty produces an optimal result. Sometimes the lids are ‘uneven’, the skin is puckered or scarred & we may rectify these issues with the Ablase.
Question:
Is every person a suitable Ablase candidate?
Answer:
We are cautious on darker skins due to the heightened risk of temporary, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Due to this risk, we provide a free test patch to determine whether or not the risk is warranted or not. In spite of the risk, many darker skinned clients/patients proceed with the treatment, as they are willing to accept a temporary darkening of their skin in exchange for an overall permanent improvement in their eye area. In severe cases of hooded eyes, we usually suggest surgery as a better solution.

There were some criticisms about the authenticity or clarity of the before & after photos I posted last week of a patients mouth.
It’s important for me to explain that in spite of every effort made to replicate the same:

What I can assure you of is that each ‘after’ photo is a true reflection of the results achieved, even if the clarity is not always en pointe.
I assure you that all my before & after photos are 100% authentic. If in doubt I’m happy for you to chat to the patient in the photo. I’m seldom in a position where I’m permitted to post full face photos, so I’m most grateful to those amazing patients who grant me permission to post photos of their faces, or parts thereof.
