I used to cook twice.

Once for them — the proper curry, the good stuff, the smell that fills the whole house. 🌶️

And once for me. The sad little ‘fat loss’ meal on the side.

Two pots.

Two sinks full.

One very irritated woman standing at the stove.

And the worst part?

I’d end up eating theirs anyway. 😅

So here’s what I do now.

I make ONE big pot of tomato chutney.

Half goes in with the oyster mushrooms, the tofu, a big handful of spinach — that’s tonight’s curry. Well balanced for the family 👌🏼

The other half gets stirred through red kidney beans I’d already cooked.

That’s tomorrow. Done. Sitting in the fridge, waiting for me.

Same masala.
Same flavours I grew up with.
Same food the whole family eats.

One cooking slot. Two meals. 😁👊🏽

Because eating well was never supposed to mean giving up your food, girls.

It means being clever with it.

Especially if you’re busy professional woman juggling a home, demanding career, kids and a diary with no white spaces in it. 😮‍💨

Try it this week and tell me how it goes.

This is exactly the kind of thing we teach inside Feeling Fab.

Not diets. Because when did those ever last?! 🤦🏽‍♀️

It’s about doing your own food smarter.

FIVE LADDOOS. ZERO JOY.

Ganesh Chaturthi, a good few years back.

A tray of motichoor laddoos on the table and me standing in the kitchen going “just one, Anika.”

I had FIVE.😩

Not because they were that good or because I’ve always had a sweet tooth.

It’s because I’d spent the whole week being “good”, and something in me just gave up. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Then I learned something so stupidly simple I was almost annoyed.

Bite one is a proper ten out of ten.
The ghee, the elaichi, the way it just falls apart.

Bite two, still lovely. Maybe an eight.

Bite three? Honestly? A six.

Nothing changed about the ladoo.

Your tongue just stops being impressed.

So now I eat the first three bites slowly and I actually ask myself — am I still enjoying this?

If yes, I carry on. Genuinely. No guilt, no maths, no “I’ll fix it Monday.”

If it’s dropped to a six, I put it down.

Not because I’m being disciplined.

Because a six-out-of-ten mouthful is a waste of a good laddoo and calories I rather enjoy on something else.

This one thing really changed my relationship with food!

No banned list.
No willpower.
No sitting at a celebration with a plate of cucumber feeling like the family project.

This is the kind of thing we teach inside Feeling Fab.

Not what to cut out — how to eat the food you actually love, properly, so it stops running your head.

Tell me your festival weakness in the comments and I’ll tell you how to enjoy it properly.

Follow along for more practical tips that will change your relationship with food for the better and get you enjoying your favourite dishes guilt free! Link in bio 🔗

Your chick pea flour is 57% carbohydrates. Let’s talk!

Okay, confession time.

Way back when…for about two years I called my besan chilla a “high protein breakfast.”

I said it out loud. To people. With confidence.

Then I actually sat down and read the numbers.

100g of chickpea flour:
22g protein.
57g carbs.

Chickpea flour isn’t protein.

It’s nearly three times more carbs than protein.

The worst part…

I wasn’t even using 100g.

My chilla used about 30g of besan.

So I was walking away with maybe 8g of protein and calling it a protein meal.

Eight. Grams.

That’s not a high protein breakfast ladies, that’s a carb with good P-R-.

Now hear me properly, because I’m not about to tell you to bin the besan.

Chickpea flour is a beautiful food.

It’s got fibre, it’s got iron, it’s got flavour, and it’s been feeding our families for generations.

It is not the problem.

The problem is that you need to be mindful of which phase you’re in.

Because if you’re in a maintenance phase, and you’re active, and your protein is already sorted elsewhere?

That chilla is absolutely fine. Eat it. Enjoy it.

But if you’re in a fat loss phase and you’re eating besan chilla’s because Instagram said chickpeas are high protein?

You’ve just traded protein for carbs and wondered why you’re hungry by 10am and why the scale won’t move.

Same food.
Same person.
Completely different outcome.

That’s the bit that gets missed.

Everyone online is shouting “high protein this, high protein that” and nobody’s asking the only question that matters:

High protein compared to what, and for who, and in which phase?

You are not failing.

You’ve just been handed food facts with NO CONTEXT.

And food facts without context are basically just noise.

This is exactly the stuff we teach inside Feeling Fab.

Not “eat this, don’t eat that.”

But how to read your own plate, know your phase, and make the call yourself — for the rest of your life.

Learn it once. Never Google it again.

Follow along and go grab the link in Bio 😊

Now go and eat your chilla. Just know why you’re eating it.

I was the afternoon snoozer.

Couldn’t go a day without my ‘baporiyu.’ Genuinely.

While my brother was outside doing whatever sporty thing he was always into, I was under a blanket at 3pm treating it like a full-time job. 🫣

I wasn’t the fit one.
I wasn’t the athletic one.
I was the one who’d rather have a nap followed by the 4pm ‘cha ne nasto’ (chai and snack time). 😆

My mum was the other one.
Always moving.
Always the health-focused one in the house, long before anyone was calling it wellness.

Over time, my mum and brothers “way of life” EVENTUALLY just… rubbed off.

Years on, I’ve now built an entire career out of being healthy and helping other women do the same.

Here’s what took me years to work out.. the ENVIRONMENT you’re in is a really powerful thing. 🧐

I just grew up standing next to people who made healthy look completely normal.

Environment beats willpower. Every single time.

And I know what you’re thinking. Well I didn’t grow up like that. Neither did half the women I coach, bhen.

You can’t go back and choose your childhood.

But you absolutely can choose the company you’re hanging with now. (If you can’t find/ create that for yourself, our door is always open for you 🫶🏼)

And don’t forget, you’re someone’s environment too — your kids’, your husband’s, your friends’.

So this morning I rocked up unannounced at my brother’s solo Hyrox sim. Just to stand there and shout for him. Just the way he has done for me all these years ❤️

Ashil Patel, you’ve been my champion.
Not sure if you ever realised that you’ve been the one coaching me.
Thank you for always inspiring me 🤗❤️

And what a bonus, ended up meeting and being a supporter to a woman whom I have so much of admiration for!! Well done Salma Geemooi . You nailed it today! Had so much fomo watching you guys! Going to be right there beside you for the next one 😁👊🏽

So back to you friends…

Whose fire are you unconsciously fuelling? 🔥
