What we observed in a room of over 60 professionals …
The Assessment Toolbox team had the opportunity to facilitate a team effectiveness and team building workshop, bringing together colleagues from across an organisation in a dynamic, large scale team building experience. What stands out the most in practical and engaging workshops is that effective team development includes creating space for people to reflect on how they work together in real time.
Workshops like these create an opportunity for teams to pause, step back from the day-to-day demands of work, and gain shared insight into how they collaborate, problem-solve, and support one another. When teams understand themselves and each other better, conversations shift and expectations become clearer.
Thank you to the group who engaged so openly and collaboratively in the process. Your willingness to participate and reflect made the experience meaningful for everyone in the room.
If your organisation is exploring ways to strengthen team effectiveness, collaboration, or communication, our team regularly shares insights and reflections from our work in this space.

What happens when a team truly understands both their own strengthsand each other’s?
Recently, Leticha Jones, with the support of Cara van Niekerk, at Assessment Toolbox, facilitated a strengths workshop with a team of 12 professionals, focused on enhancing synergy, cohesion and self-awareness within the workplace. Each team member explored their top five strengths, creating a foundation not only for individual insight, but for shared understanding across the team.
One of the most valuable shifts we observed was how the conversation moved from “my strengths” to “our strengths as a team.”
The session went further than individual results, as it became a space for:
- reflecting on personal strengths and how they show up at work
- recognising and appreciating the strengths of colleagues
- learning how strengths are relevant and can be applied in the workplace
Managers played an active role in the process, engaging deeply with their team members’ profiles and gaining clearer insight into how to support, develop and align their teams more effectively.
The outcome?
A team that left with a stronger sense of awareness, appreciation and practical ways to apply their strengths in how they work together. When strengths are understood, and intentionally applied, they benefit individuals and also transform how teams collaborate.
What’s one strength you bring into your tea and one you’ve learned to appreciate in others?
If this is something you’d like to explore further, whether for your team or your own development, you can find more information about our workshops and individual assessments on our website.

For some, this time is about Easter traditions and celebration.
For others, it is simply a chance to pause, spend time with people who matter, or take a well-earned break.
Wherever you find yourself, there is value in stepping away from the day-to-day, even briefly, to reset your energy and perspective.
At Assessment Toolbox, we are reminded that sustainable performance is not just about momentum but also about knowing when to pause.
Wishing you a restful, meaningful break - however you choose to spend it 🌿🙏🏻

Recognition matters, not only for what is achieved but for how it is achieved.
Following our recent Strategy Session, we took time to celebrate the individuals who consistently bring our values to life at Assessment Toolbox. Awards are more than a moment of acknowledgment. They reflect what we value as an organisation - collaboration, excellence, innovation, integrity, objectivity, and professionalism - and the behaviours, attitudes and contributions that shape how we work, collaborate, and grow.
This year, we recognised:
✨ Spotlight Award – Victoria Pollet
✨ Above and Beyond Award – Aimee Hewson
✨ Rising Star Award – Hope Makuwa
✨ Team Spirit Award – Leticha Jones
✨ Hall of Fame Award – Deepa Lalla & Aimee Hewson
✨ Rainmaker Award – Jessica Hattingh
✨ Ambassador Award – Andi Pama
Each of our colleagues represent something important, from consistency and collaboration, to growth, leadership and impact. Moments like these remind us that behind every report, every assessment, and every client interaction, are people who are deeply committed to doing meaningful work. Perhaps more importantly, they remind us that how we show up matters. Thank you to our ATB team for always going above and beyond to ensure that our clients receive the best service.
What does recognition look like in your organisation? What behaviours do you celebrate and what do they say about your culture?

At Assessment Toolbox, taking time to reflect and improve is an important part of how we work.
Last week, our team came together for the Annual Assessment Toolbox Strategy Session 2026, an opportunity for colleagues across our offices in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and East London to collaborate, reflect, and plan for the year ahead.
Each year, this session allows us to step back from our day-to-day work and ask important questions:
• How can we refine our processes?
• How can we strengthen the experience of the individuals and organisations we work with?
• How do we ensure our practices continue to reflect the professional standards set by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)?
During the session, the team divided into working groups focused on key areas of the organisation, including business development, client experience and report writing to name a few.
The conversations brought together new perspectives from recently joined team members alongside the experience of our senior psychometrists, creating space for thoughtful discussion and fresh ideas.
Together, we reflected on the past year, what worked well, what we learned, and where there are opportunities to grow. These insights are now shaping a number of initiatives and improvements that we look forward to implementing in the coming months.
Strategy sessions like these remind us that meaningful work happens through collaboration, reflection, and a shared commitment to continuous improvement.
We’re excited about what lies ahead for 2026! 🥳

You are not looking for just anyone. You are looking for the right one.
Short-term contract? Long-term commitment? Specialised compatibility?
In the workplace, retention is the real love story. When people feel understood, they perform better, they grow more confidently, and they are more likely to stay.
Yes, compatibility is about shared interests, but it is also about intention. How someone thinks, how they solve problems, how they respond under pressure and how they collaborate with others. Every strong relationship relies on communication: Regular check-ins. Honest conversations. Constructive feedback. Understanding what people need to succeed.
When expectations are aligned early, conflict is reduced later.
Even different working styles can be highly compatible, when they are understood and balanced intentionally.
Do not leave workplace relationships to chance. Build them on insight and strengthen them through understanding. For more insights on evidence-based hiring and development practices on our website: www.assessmenttoolbox.co.za

🧠 Psychometric assessments provide objective, scientifically validated insights into how people think, work, and engage with their environment. When used responsibly and ethically, they support better-informed decisions across selection and development processes. Rather than relying solely on interviews or CVs, psychometric tools add depth by highlighting potential, strengths, and development areas - helping organisations place the right person in the right role. At The Assessment Toolbox, we believe assessments are not about labelling individuals, but about understanding people better to enable personal and professional growth 🌱
⚖️ Assessments should always be administered and interpreted by qualified professionals and used as part of a holistic decision-making process.
