From copper to golden blonde😊 the team at did a very good job with my highlights.

Going back blonde is a process, I was once fire engine red when I was onboard the cruise ship, eventually over time the colour faded to copper. I enjoyed being a red head, but blonde is a more natural colour.

For this application, we did a full head of highlights, I wanted to be as light as possible but I wanted to keep the golden tone in my hair as there are still some copper pieces in between. I was aiming to be a golden blonde or strawberry blonde and my vision was brought to life😊

I have been wanting to create a post to SHARE my story, how I became a hairdresser and how living and working on a cruise ship is!
(Though I think I should create a separate post on that topic)

I hope that you will feel inspired and let your dreams set sail!

So without any further adieu, let's get started!

I am Nina Erasmus, a young, passionate international hairstylist and owner of Hair by Nina from Krugersdorp South Africa.

My passion for hair started at a very young age, in school I was famous for creating beautiful hair designs for my friends or anyone who asked for a hairstyle. I spend hours watching YouTube videos, to learn new hairstyles and braids and practiced on myself until I could master the hairstyle to perfection.

Since I was young, I loved the atmosphere of being in a salon, it was fascinating to me how a hairdresser could have the ability to make someone look and feel like a new person.

I also loved getting my hair done, and I loved how I felt afterwards, confident, beautiful, irresistible, valued, special, loved and cared for. All of those feelings has inspired me, and with my passion for hair, I wanted to make a difference.

After graduating High School, I attended Complete School of Hairdressing where I was a student for two years, I also started to work as an apprentice in salons to gain experience over the years until at the age of 21 I started my own business.

I had no clientele when I started Hair by Nina, but over time my business grew and for more than two years, I had a successful business. I was very happy and I saw that I was making people happy too, I was living my passion and calling.

But being so young, I have a very adventurous spirit and a dream to travel the world. I started doing research on how I could make that dream a reality and working as a hairdresser on a luxury cruise ship was the answer. After sending my application, I was contacted very quickly and I grabbed the once in a lifetime opportunity with both hands.

It all happened so fast, but I knew it was what God wanted me to do. I attended the London Wellness Academy SA in Cape Town and completed my training. It wasn't long after that I received the good news...

The good news that I was placed on Norwegian Viva, a brand new ship and I was to join my ship in Venice, Italy!

I had an amazing adventure I have lost count of all the places I have been to. I was all around Europe in places like Italy, France, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Croatia and Turkey.

I enjoyed the tropical side of the world, spending the last few months of my contract in the Caribbean. Imagine experiencing sunshine and summer for months! It was incredible!

I have been enjoying being at home since April. I took a bit of break from working as a cruise ship can be very demanding and I needed to take some time off.

I was offered a second contract on the Norwegian Epic and I am to join my ship in September 2024, but I will leave the country before starting my contract, I will spend some time overseas.

But for now, I am still here and taking appointments until mid July. I found a beautiful salon in Krugersdorp where I can work comfortably and make your hair wishes come true!
