Teenage acne doesn’t always show up as red, inflamed pimples.

This teenage boy presented with mainly blackheads and whiteheads across the forehead and cheeks, which can happen when excess oil, dead skin cells and sebum build up inside the pores.

We focused on gentle, appropriate extraction and post-treatment care rather than simply treating what was visible on the surface.

The skin may look slightly swollen immediately after treatment, which can be a normal short-term response to extraction.

The truth about chemical peels

Peeling is a side effect, not the goal.

If you didn’t flake after your peel, it doesn’t mean it “didn’t work.” Most of the magic happens under the surface: increased cell turnover, more even tone, and over time, better collagen quality.

When to check in with your provider: intense burning, blistering, spreading redness, pus, or peeling that looks infected—those are not “normal peel.”

Between the eczema flare ups (Thank God not as aggressive anymore) and hormonal changes, my perioral area suffers the most from those inflammatory episodes making it harder to consistently treat the PIH (Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation).
