UFS STUDENT WHO COLLAPSED ON GRADUATION DAY IDENTIFIED AS MASTERS GRADUATE FROM
LIMPOPO

BLOEMFONTEIN – The University of the Free State student who collapsed and died on her graduation day has been identified as 26-year-old Mulalo Nndwa from Limpopo.

Nndwa, originally from Masakona Village under the Collins Chabane Local Municipality in the Vhembe District, was set to graduate with a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning.

Tragedy struck moments before the ceremony on Friday, 17 April, when she suddenly collapsed on campus, turning what was meant to be a joyful occasion into one of sorrow.

At the time of her passing, Nndwa was serving as a Town Planner Intern at the Free State Department of Education, where she was involved in land suitability assessments, Spatial Development Framework processes, and planning compliance work under SPLUMA

The cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
She leaves behind two children.

A memorial service has since been held in Bloemfontein to honour her life, as tributes continue to pour in for the young professional whose life was cut short.
