💜 A LITTLE UPDATE FROM ME 💜

Hi my beautiful clients! 🥰

I just wanted to share a little health update with you all, especially because so many of you are always so sweet and bring me little chocolates, biscuits, sweets and snacks when you come for your appointments. 🥹💜

I have recently been diagnosed with Hashimotos and COELIAC DISEASE, which means that I unfortunately can no longer eat gluten.

Coeliac disease isn't simply a food preference or an intolerance. Gluten triggers an immune reaction in my body and can damage my small intestine, so I have to follow a strict gluten-free diet.

That means I can't just have "a little bit" of something containing gluten, and unfortunately even tiny amounts from cross-contamination can be a problem. 😭

So if you've brought me a snack before and I've had to say, "I can't eat that anymore" — PLEASE don't think I'm being ungrateful! 🥹❤️ I appreciate every single little gift and thought more than you know. It's just that I now have to be extremely careful about what I eat.

💜 IF YOU'D LIKE TO SPOIL ME WITH A SNACK...

I've put together a little list below of things that you can look for. Please always check the packaging because ingredients and manufacturing processes can change. THE BEST THING SO FAR TO HELP WITH THIS IS CHAT GPT
you take a picture of the ingredients list etc or packaging and prompt hey chat is this gluten free and coeliac approved.

THERE IS ALOT NOT APPROVED AND BECOMES A GAME OF NEEDLE IN A HAYSTACK

🍿 SNACKS / FOOD IDEAS

• Gluten-free biscuits or cookies
• Gluten-free crackers
• Gluten-free chips/crisps
• Popcorn — plain/flavoured varieties that are confirmed gluten-free
• Plain or flavoured nuts
• Trail mix — ONLY if labelled gluten-free
• Dried fruit — ONLY if confirmed gluten-free
• Fresh fruit 🍓🍎🍌
• Jelly sweets/gummies — ONLY after checking the label
• Chocolate — ONLY if confirmed gluten-free
• Gluten-free protein/energy bars
• Gluten-free rice cakes
• Corn chips — ONLY if confirmed gluten-free
• Biltong — ONLY if confirmed gluten-free
• Gluten-free muffins or other baked treats
• Cheese and other naturally gluten-free snacks, provided they're not cross-contaminated

MAJORITY OF THE FLAVOURS AND SPICES HAVE GLUTEN EG
POP CORN AND FLAVOURS OR EVEN AROMAT IS OUT SO JUST PLAIN SALT IS GOOD LOL

🥤 DRINKS

• Red Bull ❤️ CAN U BELIVE IT ALL THE FLAVOURS
• Other soft drinks
• Juice
• Water/flavoured water
• Coffee-NO INSTANT COFFEE UNLESS AT A BARISTA BUT ASK IF GLUTEN FREE
• Tea

Again, please check the individual product because recipes and manufacturing can vary.

🚨 WHAT TO LOOK FOR ON THE LABEL

When buying something for me, please look at the ingredients AND the allergy/warning information.

Things I need to avoid include gluten-containing:

❌ Wheat
❌ Barley
❌ Rye
❌ Malt / malt extract / malt flavouring
❌ Wheat flour
❌ Wheat starch unless specifically confirmed suitable/gluten-free
❌ Anything that specifically states it contains gluten

And PLEASE look for warnings such as:

⚠️ "May contain wheat/gluten"
⚠️ "May contain traces of wheat/gluten"
⚠️ "Manufactured in a facility that also processes wheat/gluten"
⚠️ "Produced on equipment that also processes wheat/gluten"

These warnings are important because cross-contamination can happen during manufacturing.

💜 THE EASIEST OPTION

If you're ever unsure, look for a product that is clearly labelled "GLUTEN FREE" rather than trying to guess from the ingredients.

And please don't feel like you have to buy me anything at all! 🥹 Your visits, support, chats and love are already more than enough.

But if you do want to spoil your nail tech with a little snack now and then… you now know how to spoil her safely! 😂💜

I have some very exciting news to share with all of you!
It is with so much pride and excitement that I officially welcome Cherice to the Moonstone Blush Bar family. ✨
Over the next while, I will be personally mentoring and training her as she begins her journey as a Junior Nail Technician. She will be specialising in Gel Toes and will gradually start taking on clients of her own.
Many of you know that over the past few months my health has been a bit of a rollercoaster. It gave me quite a scare, and it also made me realise how important it is to have someone I trust by my side. There were times when I simply couldn't work, and I hated not being able to look after my amazing clients.
My goal isn't to replace what I do—it's to build something stronger for all of us. Over the next year, I hope to grow Cherice into a confident and talented Nail Technician who can step in whenever I'm unwell, away, or unable to work, ensuring that every one of you continues to receive the love and care you've come to expect from Moonstone Blush Bar.
I'm incredibly proud to have her under my wing, and I can't wait for you all to meet her, support her, and watch her blossom into an amazing Nail Tech.
